Description: Model ID M2N-E SLI / ASUS M2N-E SLI - Motherboard - ATX - nForce 500 SLI - Socket AM2 - UDMA133, Serial ATA-300 (RAID) - Gigabit Ethernet - ... more
Asus M2N-E SLI ... FireWire - 8-channel audio / NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI media and communications processors (MCPs) deliver a complete range of solutions for AMD-based discrete platforms. Performance enhancing features include NVIDIA LinkBoost technology to automatically increase bus speeds and NVIDIA SLI technology for scalable graphics performance.

NVIDIA SLI (Scalable Link Interface) takes advantage of the increased bandwidth of the PCI Express bus architecture and features intelligent hardware and software that allows two GPUs to efficiently work together to deliver earth-shattering, scalable performance.

The M2N-E SLI supports AMD socket AM2 single-core Athlon 64/ Sempron and dual-core Athlon 64 FX / Athlon 64 X2 processors with 2MB / 1MB / 512KB L2 cache, which is based on 64-bit architecture. It features 2000 / 1600 MT/s HyperTransport Bus, dual-channel un-buffered DDR2 800 memory support and AMD Cool 'n' Quiet! Technology.

The advanced processing technology contains two physical CPU cores with individually dedicated L2 caches to satisfy the rising demand for more powerful processing capability.

DDR2 is the next generation memory technology to replace the current DDR. With the highest speed up to 800MHz, DDR2 memory provides great performance for 3D graphics and other memory demanding applications. .

The NVIDIA native Gigabit LAN controller delivers transfer speeds up to ten times faster than conventional 10/100 Ethernet connections. Gigabit LAN is the networking standard for the early future and is ideal for handling large amounts of data such as video, audio, and voice.

This motherboard provides convenient connectivity to external home theater audio systems via an coaxial S/PDIF-out (SONY-PHILIPS Digital Interface) jack. It allows transferring digital audio without converting to analog format and keeps the best signal quality.

IEEE 1394a interface provides high-speed digital interface for audio/video appliances such as digital television, digital video camcorders, storage peripherals and other PC portable devices.

This motherboard supports next-generation SATA hard drives based on the new SATA 3Gb/s storage specification. The onboard NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI MCP allows RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, RAID 5 and JBOD configurations for 4 SATA connectors.

USB 2.0 is the latest connectivity standard for next generation components and peripherals. Backwards compatible with current USB 1.1 peripherals, USB 2.0 delivers transfer speeds up to 40 times faster at 480Mb/s, for easy connectivity and ultra-fast data transfers.

The ASUS Q-Connector allows you to connect or disconnect chassis front panel cables in one easy step with one complete module. This unique adapter eliminates the trouble of plugging in one cable at a time, making connection quick and accurate.

The ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3 allows users to restore corrupted BIOS data from a USB flash disk containing the BIOS file. This utility saves users the cost and hassle of buying a replacement BIOS chip.

EZ Flash 2 is a user-friendly BIOS update utility. Simply press the pre-defined hotkey to launch this tool and update BIOS from a USB flash disk before entering the OS. You can update your BIOS only in a few clicks without preparing an additional floppy diskette or using an OS-based flash utility.

The motherboard and its packaging comply with the European Union's Restriction on the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). This is in line with the ASUS vision of creating environment-friendly and recyclable products and packaging to safeguard consumers' health while minimizing the impact on the environment.

... very reiliable and is also very fast. slightly better than my previous builds but it uses a dual core architecture (AM2). The CPU in my build is an AMD Athlon 64 and is a 4.8Gb. I am fitted up with all 4 RAM slots containing 1 GB in each. Now I do believe that I would get the same performance using just 3GB as it would seem that just 2GB is normally adaquet (1GB in each of the 4 slots). However 4GB covers you very well and since there are 4 sockets which are for DIMM ECC/non ECC and are 240 pin type which at the mome...more

Express Review on Asus M2N-E SLI

Bought this mobo back in December 2008. Painless to set up and the processor being a AMD 6000 x2. The computer has now been running almost continously for about 1 month with no problems at all. I would have given this mobo top marks, but the sound is awful, the sound chipset is presently not being supported and updates are non-existent. I have now switched the on-board audio off and installed a Creative Xtreme.

My system comprises of a nvidia 9500GTE 3 HD's, 2 IDE, 1 SATA and 3 DVD writers, 2 SATA, 1 IDE. I have also installed 4gb memory and bought a new case with excellent cooling, but monitoring the AMD the processor even at full load runs very cool. This is the first time I have bought an ASUS mobo, when I upgrade again it would almost be certain that this would be another ASUS mobo.

Hi, I am back already. Yesterday I reviewed the ASUS A8N-E and it certainly was a good one in every respect. The model here, the ASUS M2N-E has proved itself over the last year. I built several systems using this MoBo and so far it has been well up to ASUS' usual standard and for me it is the natural successor to the previous one (A8N-E). My comments are that on getting my first motherboard box with its numerous bits and pieces, was that you simply had your moneys worth. Ample leads and more. A sinch to assemble and it worked immediately I switched on, and like giving birth (I imagine), it was a relief when it did fire up and the labour was over LOL! ...  Read the complete review

I brought this from ebuyer a few months back, for my new system build. I wanted a motherboard which had plenty of features/ports etc, without braking the bank, and this does just that. With 4 USB port, 7.1 surround sound audio card, 4 rear USB ports + 2 headers, Printer Port, and even 2 PCI-E 16X for SLi and 2 PCI-E and 2 PCI card slots, which is a good use of the slots available, with the PCI-E sure to be used more in the future, with it's smaller and faster slot. So, after unpacking, I found there to be a lot of accessories with this board, keeping up to ASUS's standards. I applied the headers to the case and installed the motherboard easy enough, connected ...  Read the complete review
