Advantages: Great little device
Disadvantages: It hasn't got SATA on the go technology which for £6.50 more you can get
There is an alternative that i considered buying at first and that was the pro version of this. The pro version has SATA on the go technology which for a little bit extra (£6.50 used) you can get. The pro version also has a different layout but it just looks more organized, no actual physical difference.
The metal masks are stainless steel and also have a turbo switch for over clocking, but this has failed on numerous occasions due to my PC's age, so i would recommend only to those with newer computers.
I believe a dell insperon 4 or better will have no problems at all, and if it isn't a dell computer then definitely check the web before you buy. I have only used this in a dell.
Fitting it was easy, it comes in a red anti static bag when bought new, and an instruction manual for fitting it only. Taking your pc apart to get to the motherboard is not in the manual.
Once the clips that hold this in place are open, it becomes a real hassle to put them back down again. Due to the 3mm thick board and metal clips which are 2mm thick you really have to press them down very hard.
In terms of PC performance this has been extremely good. I run windows XP on my computer and so far so good. It crashed once when i had the PC Usage up to 99% but i had two youtube video's running and windows XP was complaining about a broken wizard for my MP3 Converter set-up.
It has lasted over a year now and as far as i can tell its been fine. Its been through a lot. Viruses, over clocking being on for 48 hours straight when i went on holiday, and also it has been bashed around when i first put it in.
This is recommended by me but just be careful when using it for older PC's, the results are not that positive.
Summary: Best motherboard i have had, with only a minor downside.
