I went back and checked the VIA Cyrix verified motherboard list and realised my fatal mistake. It was the GA-6WMMC7-1 that supported the chip and I had the previous revision. Not getting too disheartened I offered the man who wanted the machine, a Celeron 600 in its place for the same price, hence him getting a better deal. I recently bought this motherboard and had a great deal of hassle with it, some self induced and some Gigabyte induced. I was selling a system to someone and the intended processor was the new Cyrix chip, the Cyrix III, running at 600MHz (6x100MHz). I checked the VIACyrix website to check if this board would accept the new Cyrix chip and it said that yes it would. This filled me with confidence so I ordered the board and everything was happy.
