Gigabyte GA-5AA (Rev 3.2): ... had a an Pentium MMX PC and wanted to upgrade the motherboard and CPU and keep everything else. I also required the motherboard to be in AT format, otherwise it won't fit in my casing. This was the best choice. So far, the motherboard has worked flawlessly. If you do get the board, I advise you to download the latest AGP drivers... otherwise, your AGP card might not work too well. The manual which comes with th...

marchup Gigabyte GA-5AA (Rev 3.2)
... the GA5AA is a good value motherboard, I built one of my PC's and one for someone else using the same. As boards go this one was easy to setup except for the placing of the IDE cables as they have to go right accross the top of the CPU cooling fan( the ones supplied with the board are not long enough to be strapped out of the way!). They would have done better to move the ide plugs over even at the expense of making the board slightly larger. Functionality of the board is superb once it has been installed with an easy to use BIOS setup utility which - unlike the majority of boards would let you get through the POST even if the memory you were using was faulty. ...

CyrixDes Gibabyte GA-6WMMC7
... recently bought this motherboard and had a great deal of hassle with it, some self induced and some Gigabyte induced. I was selling a system to someone and the intended processor was the new Cyrix chip, the Cyrix III, running at 600MHz (6x100MHz). I checked the VIACyrix website to check if this board would accept the new Cyrix chip and it said that yes it would. This filled me with confidence so I ordered the board and everything was happy. Happy until I plugged the board in and got the constant bleeping of the onboard warning system. I noticed that the board said that it had a Celeron 600 installed instead of a Cyrix 600. I went back and checked the VIA Cyrix verif...

CyrixDes Gigabyte GA-5AA (Rev 3.2)
... Gigabyte GA-5AA is one of a pair of motherboards that spearhead Gigabytes attack on the Socket 7 market, along with the 5AA's brother the GA-5AX. The GA-5AA is the AT version and the GA-5AX is the ATX version although each ones specs vary slightly. Socket 7 isn't dead yet and the Cyrix MII and AMD K6-2 continue to battle out in this market. You will still find these systems brand new in the budget sector and it isn't a market that is completely finished yet despite what a lot of people may say. A lot of people may only want to spend a small amount to upgrade their old pentium systems for a quicker machine and hence may stick with Socket 7. Gigabyte h...
