Budget Insurance Company ... letter litter. The legality of such a thing seems doubtful, and in 26 years no other insurance company has tried it. Anyway, having discovered the ploy I let the company know that I didn’t need their insurance. They duly cancelled it – but refused to refund the fee until the ‘Certificate of Insurance’ was returned. This I immediately did by recorded delivery – but mysteriously money was not refunded. Eventually managing to speak to someone there I discover they ‘had no record of receiving it’. So they sent a form for ‘Lost Certificate’ for me to fill in and return. This I did. Strangely they didn’t seem to receive that either and sent another form for ‘Lost Certific... Elephant.co.uk ... car. I had to threaten them with reporting the car stolen if it did not turn up. The same day a member of elephant’s customer services team phones to explain what would happen to my insurance now that I had written of a vehicle. No they still do not know where my car is, I ask when I can receive payment and am informed that once the insurance assessor has seen the vehicle payment will be made. How can they tell me that my car is written off if the insurance assessor has not only not seen the car but does not know where the car is. Direct Line ... waited for them to turn up and by 4pm I'd still had no call to say that they were here. I rang Direct Line who put me through to Auto Glass. The person I spoke to was a complete nightmare. He couldn't decide what his name was (he gave me at least 3 different ones) said he didn't know what had happened and booked me a different time slot. He didn't seem to understand that if someone was going to come out during the week I would need someone from Leicester but if it was a weekend I'd need someone to from Derby. It all became most confusing. He also asked me if I thought it could be repaired. Now I'm not an expert and I thought that was what they needed to assess by comin...
