Advantages: Cheap quotes

Disadvantages: Cheap quotes turn out to be more expensive when taken out, bad customer support, missing data!

Must agree with everything already written. I've had the unpleasant experience just today. I did several on-line quotes and requested a callback from one of the companies. I received a call some half hour early and not paid attention enough to detect a call coming from 1stquote. My mistake. Still I was expecting a call and thought it was the correct one. After I've decided to go ahaid with motorbike insurance I was read the speedy disclaimer and payment taken over the phone for a credit card. I was given a reference number and customer services contact number.

Moments later the real company who I requested a callback from called and it became apparent something was wrong. I called the number where I got the first call from and after supplying my details to check whether the insurance has gone through they didn't even have any information on their system of any insurance fro me being taken out ... After some more enquiries it turned out the reference number I was supplied with is not in correct format so they can't trace it up. Furthermore, calling the customer services phone number given - I reached a travel agency ... enough said?

Luckily I have a bank branch close so I went and cancelled a pending transaction. Funny - the people from 1stquote I spoke with over the phone were not able to locate that transaction being out through. Someone mentioned them taking credit card details and running them around office for a while - seems true enough.

So to summarize - their quotes may be cheap but it's just not worth all the hassle. You end up without insurance, with bad customer support and unreliable information system. I'm still deciding on whether to call the police about a possible fraud.

Summary: Turn away while you can
