Took up an online quote for tpf&t, paid with card (money taken)only to find next page said not covered must phone them. Phoned, as my car is an import they had to check all ok with insurer, this took 35 mins in total and I was told all ok. On 13th May I received the paperwork with 'Statement of facts' for checking. This was incorrect, said it was uk car and not import + wrong make/model. So I phoned and was told (after another 30 mins) that it would be fine, would have to pay another £10 and they would phone me back tomorrow when paperwork done. They didn't. On the 27th I received more paperwork still with incorrect vehicle on the statement of facts. So phoned again and was told I wasn't covered - that insurance company (Brokers Direct) doesn't cover import cars and I had 7 days to find alternative insurance. I wonder if they were actually going to inform me of this fact. Because it is beyond the 14 day cooling off period they are going to charge me £30 for 26 days cover which equates to £496 pa which is nothing like the £157 that I was first sold the insurance for. They suggested that I was the one that input the wrong vehicle and are now going to listen to the recordings as I refute this. This company is a complete shambles and in my opinion downright dishonest. I would hate to have to put a claim in!
