Advantages: Internet based - no telephoning round

I tested 1stquote by looking for new motor insurance.
The site says it has quotes from 30 insurers providers, so I thought it should come up with a reasonable deal.
It's easy to use - you just chose from the options available, and it seems to include a fairly comprehensive selection of car makes and models. You need to have information to hand about your no claims period, dates of any previous claims, etc.
The quote comes through pretty quickly - less than a minute for me.
It isn't as cheap as it leads you to believe, though. I was given a quote of £335. Then I rang my current insurer, Direct Line, and got a renewal quote of £240!
No need to tell you which I've gone for.

1st quote is OK as a rough indication, but don't believe it's giving you the cheapest deal possible.
