Advantages: Staff have nice Welsh accents
Disadvantages: Poor payout offer
I previously had an insurance policy with Admiral, during which time I had the misfortune to have my car written off. When I came to claim, I sent them all relevant details, and they came back with an offer of about 2/3 of what the car was worth. Being rather unhappy about this, I obtained a photocopy of the relevant page from Glass's used car guide showing what my car was actually worth and sent it to them. They then sent me a cheque for this amount. This suggests to me that they'll just try it on with their first offer in the hope that you'll just accept whatever that is, which unfortunately vulnerable people may well do. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this, from Admiral or any other insurer? If anyone does have to make a claim, my advice would be to make sure you know what your car is worth rather than just accept what is offered.

- 17/05/01 A useful piece of advice. It would be good if you told us how long it took for the claim to come through, how efficiently (or not) they dealt with you, and so on. |
