I made a claim through Admiral in June 2009. I had been side swiped by another car pulling out of a junction. Admiral put me in touch with their lawyers as part of my policy included Legal protection. They arranged a courtesy car whilst mine was in the garage. This was delivered no more than 2 hours after I reported the crash. A week later they called to let me know that my car had been classed a write off.
They settled the claim very quickly and without too much hassle. Their first offer was exactly what I had paid for the car 2 months previously. I refused 2 offers and ended up with £400 more than I paid for the car.
I foudn their call centre staff more than helpful and will defnitely use them again if they have a competitive quote again.

Beware of this trap with their multi-car policy. I went with Admiral for their multi-car policy, but they are so and so's when it comes to changes. I added a third car in preparation for a car I was going to buy the next day, but I didn't buy in the end. When I phoned to cancel it, they told me that I would have to pay a £22.50 admin fee, which ... Read the complete review

If you have a car which turns out to be less than your premium (easily done when you are a young driver), avoid admiral like swine flu. In November i hit the back of an existing incident. They had crashed by experiencing the same thing as me. Unfortunately, my car was a total loss. Therefore, my policy has gone into a 'Fault Cancelation'. I ... Read the complete review

Admiral came up very cheap on a price comparison site for my motor insurance, so I phoned up to accept the quote - Upon reviewing the details, there were a couple of items they needed that weren't available on the price comparison form ie Dependant children under 16? (which I replied that I have two), and born and lived in this country all my ... Read the complete review

I am writing this review for two reasons one to warn others about this companies attitude and secondly to get this off my chest! Some of you may know that my other halfs car insurance is up for renewal in January but with a baby due on the 3rd we thought that it was best to get organised and sort out the insurance before I went into labour!... ... If you look on any site containing reviews of this company, you will find a lot of wildly varying opinion. If you are reading this and considering taking out insurance with Admiral I would think very carefully if they are the best company for you. I went with Admiral because they were offering the cheapest insurance by some margin. ... Read the complete review

I have noticed there are mixed opinions on Admiral car insurance. This is my view of the company and service provided from them. The main reason I chose Admiral was that they were the only company that offered the cover I need for my car at the most competitive price in the market. (I used price comparison websites, brokers etc.) The ... Read the complete review

Please please do not allow these leeches into your life. Three months into a years contract they managed to lose our direct debit mandate three times, so cancelled our cover and charged us £115 to cancel, despite the error obviously being at their end. Customer service line was a premium rate, and despite helpful staff the other end (believe they ... Read the complete review

I have had a very bad experience of Admiral debiting my credit card for several hundred pounds for a renewal of car insurance I didn't request - the car had gone back to the lease company and I proved this to them. They have refunded the money from the date I notified them of their theft of my money but they have not repaid the monies for the intervening period - a sum close to £100 (nearly 25% of the original unauthorised credit card debit) despite the fact they stole my money only one month earlier. Judging by other reviews this policy of plundering peoples bank accounts or credit cards without permission is not uncommon.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Very unimpressed with Admiral, my son took out a car policy with them this year because they were a bit cheaper than his previous insurer, but even so his insurance is very high because he's a young driver. We live in Greater London but he wanted to take his car up north to uni for next term, thought it would just be a matter of informing them of ... Read the complete review

Admiral what a rubbish policy !! I thought I had done my home work but I over looked one thing, In the past 15 years of me behind the wheel and dealing with over 8 insurance company's having social domestic and pleasure cover has covered to and from work but with Admiral its not. They have 4 insurance groups so be very carefull you may not be covered, driving to and from work is when most accidents acure and they know it, have a look and make sure you are covered. For me to change my policy it cost me £19.50 to do a small admin change this is worst than bank chaarges. I will not be staying with Admiral once this year is complete thats for sure.

I signed up to admiral this year because I assumed they were cheap, appearing on a price comparison site as notably cheaper than all the others. On phoning them (online was not an option) I was greeted by a friendly girl who proceed to process my quote. Its at this stage Admiral add on the IPT (insurance premium tax) bumping the price up to the ... Read the complete review

Admiral are pathetic and are at war with Norwich Union who are stealing their business. Admiral employees seem to have a sub standard education and yet try to say they give superior customer service.
Admiral who are the owners of Confused .com comapre the market to find the cheapoest quote usually amoungst the brands they own such as Elephant but never against Direct Line .
They will also refer you to an independant company who do searches of smaller insurance cos if you get a beetr quote from NU so bitter is their battle.
They pay staff derisory amounts of money while Henrt Englehart and the boys rake it in at the top

Hi, I have just received a combined ppolcy quote from Admiral, I probably will take it. If you were mis-sold you may well be able to recover compensation either via your legal expenses cover on the car policy, or perhaps using legal expenses cover via household insurance. Might also get remedy via Finacial Ombudsman Service, but takes a year or more!

Beware of using Albany Assist (working for Admiral) when making a claim. They are a bunch of procedural, time wasters, who dont give a damn about you and your claim. They will not help and will be very stern with you when you call them. I have been claiming for 9 months for minor damage to my vehicle and have got nowhere. If you choose to use Admiral, and need to claim dont go down the Albany route. In fact ask NOT to use them and deal only with Admiral.

Admiral Car Insurance is consistantly one of the cheapest car insurers around. I have renewed my policy with them for the last three years. I must admit that when the initial renewal notice comes through the price is never the best, however, with a little bit opf time spent getting a quote from the internet and then ringing Admiral themselves I ... Avoid ADMIRAL's renewal people when you're cancelling! I recently found a cheaper quote. When I rang Admiral to cancel they persuaded me to let them see if they could match the new quote, they asked to check my details and in doing so found that I had not told them 5 years ago about a 3 pts fine. They are now demanding I pay them a few hundred pounds (even if I am leaving them) in accumulated charges as they should have been told when it happened. Surely this oversight doesn't cost THEM anything now?? I haven't had any claims. IF ONLY I hadn't given them the chance to quote. Moral: just leave them!

Want a CCJ against you? Then take out Admiral car insurance! This is what happened to me after an accident last year. To cut a long story short, the accident wasn't my fault but Admiral dragged out the claim, at one time told me they were waiting for settlement. Months later still not settled and I get a county court summons from the other party for costs. Told by Admiral they would deal with it and not to worry - they did nothing so three weeks later I get a CCJ against me! Nice letter that! Contacted Admiral, they paid the other fella off, paid back my excess. After more discussion gave me back my no-claims and said as it was paid it wouldn't affect me in any way. AS IF!!! Refused business credit card, letters from Debt agencies offering help - I wish I could go on! UNRESOLVED!
