AXA DirectNewest Review: ... reason, although I always looked around at each renewal I never did anything about it because no other company could offer such a guarantee. Anyway, last renewal I received the renewal notice and the premium had once again risen, this time by about £100. I decided to look around more seriously and found a quote for nearly £300 cheaper (icluding the same NCB protection). Just out of interest I got a quote off the AXA website and this was £150 cheaper than my original renewal amount. This got me mad!! I rang AXA, who explained that it was much cheaper for them to sell insurance over the internet and that they could pass the saving onto t... more |

I was with AXA for about 5 years and had amassed 9 years No Claims Bonus with them. I had the NCB protected in such a way that it didn't matter how many accidents I had in what period, I wouldn't lose it. For this reason, although I always looked around at each renewal I never did anything about it because no other company could offer such a guarantee. I just have to tell someone! My wife has recently been ringing car insurance companies for a quote. When she rang AXA she was asked if there had been any modifications to her car. She probably didn't need to mention it, but she explained that ABS (anti-lock braking system) had been added as a factory-fitted option. The operator put her on hold and came back to say that they wouldn't be able to insure her because ABS is dangerous! My wife laughed at her out loud and asked if she knew what ABS is. The operator explained that "it's something to do with the brakes, and it's dangerous". If you want a quote from AXA make sure ... Read the complete review

Just over two years ago, I needed my first car insurance, and so began the annual ritual of gathering quotes. Even living out in the Styx and driving a tortoise-like Micra I was expecting to be stung. Luckily for me, after phoning around, I happened on the Axa Direct number. I was only just inside the minimum age bracket (I think its still 23+), but they beat the other quotes hands down. Fast-forward two years, and I've become more insurable. But to add to the confusion I was changing cars soon after the renewal date, and so needed quotes for the new motor. Norwich Union (who I insured with last year) quoted over £700 for the Yaris T-sport, and my best quotes ... Read the complete review

Each year, like everyone else, I go through the ritual of searching for the best deal for my car insurance. We're constantly bombarded with adverts yelling ' try us first cos we're the best '. They can't all be the best and just how much do they spend on advertising I wonder? I'm a great believer if something's good its reputation will sell it. I know with all the competition these days, advertising is a necessary evil and I just love some of those ads on tv. Especially the seasonal Virgin mobile one, that really appeals to my sense of humour and the dogs in the Emmerdale breaks - but I digress. Some companies seem to be in ... Read the complete review

My son was tailgated a year ago and the driver responsible admitted full liability. His insurance company, Eagle Star were prepared to supply a coutesy car and repair the damage, but when AXA direct, my sons insurers were informed, he was told it would be quicker for them to deal with the claim and his comprehensive motor policy also included a courtesy vehicle. 2 months later, no vehicle had been supplied and a cheque arrived for £1500 less than the car was worth, with a letter saying it had been written off. Following a further 6 months of letters and requests for justification of their assessment, all of which were ignored, the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau, who were ... Read the complete review
