Advantages: In reality none

Disadvantages: It may cost you in the long run!

I've been with BD for 3 years now & when my policy runs out on midnight friday I most definately will not be renewing it!

I'm not here to slander them as a companycause, as I appreciate, everyone has differnt experiences, some good, some okay, some bad!

What inticed me into taking out a policy with these guys was the catchy discount & years no claims bonus after 10 months add in the loot. As I hadn't owned my own vehicle for 2 years at that point I needed to get some no claims a.s.a.p. so that I could bring my insurance down pretty sharp!

Last November I was unfortunate to have an accident (a car pulled out of a side road into me, I was on a major road), I contacted the police, produced my documents, contacted my insurers & waited..... I waited some more .... & some more! soone it was Marchy & I had enough so I called them, the adviser was polite but a little ruffled when asked for an explanation as to why I hadn't been contacted, "oh you'll need to speak to our unisured loss recovery people" - this was due to me not wanting to claim & then wait for the other guy's comapny to pay up - "Cool" I said.

2 months later an impatient motorist hits me from behind as I stop to give another motorist way, I report the accident to my insurance company - you get hit from behind, you're in the right, right?... Wrong! The guy doesn't respond to their mail, tells me they haven't written him & I get a quote in the post for £1,200 for my next 10 months insurance (for a 1.4 vw polo). Something didn't add up!

I advised Bell I would like to cancel the claims & the policy & after a long debate they agreed, I then called around to get an insurance quote only to be informed that my 4 years no claims at 10 months a piece was not recognised at all by some companies & would only get me 3 years no claims from others!

After paying over the odds for 3 calendar years this obvious
ly left a sour taste in my mouth!

If you've stayed with me up until this point all I would like to say is be careful when choosing what type of insurance policy you take out, don't be hood winked by so called money saving schemes!.

Sometimes if your try to be cheap you end up paying twice, I'll probably end up paying trice!

One love

I think in this case, you had two accidents, and in any insurance claim you simply cannot afford to wait, you have to chase up - and cases where accidents occur more frequently even on non-fault, the risk assessment is greater. But Bell tend to use this as some kind of twisting the knife for some reason, seems sad since Bell is generally a good company.

It's always useful to know who to avoid! :)
