CGU DirectNewest Review: ... there were no other cars around and went headon into her car. She was hurt but not as bad as she could have been. There was no doubt about who was to blame and no one argued this fact - in fact the driver, although he should not have really, did phone me to see how she was. She had to have 9 weeks off work and her car was a write off. The insurance company dealt with it all. Got the solicitors working for her. The nice part was because she was under 25 she had £300 excess and had to pay that first. She did not have it but the solicitors sorted it out and then took it out of her final payment. This of course took over one year but she w... more |

You dont know how good or bad your motor car insurance is until you need to make a claim. It is then that you will be able to say if you have good or bad insurance cover. My daughter had a car accident. A van with workmen in overtook a lorry on a bend early one morning thinking there were no other cars around and went headon into her car. She was hurt but not as bad as she could have been. There was no doubt about who was to blame and no one argued this fact - in fact the driver, although he should not have really, did phone me to see how she was. Regardless of whether other people's experiences of this company are good or bad, I feel that I should write about my own personal unpleasant experience with this company. Apparently they have merged with Norwich Union now, but I'm not really sure and I don't really care. The only reason I opted to go through this comapany for my car insurance this year, was because I could not afford a lump sum payment, and although quite an expensive premium, they offered an interest free monthly payment scheme. After confirming what I wanted over the phone (and I have to admit that the chap on the other end of the phone was pleasant-mannered and helpful), I was ... Read the complete review

Commercial union, have provided me with the cheapest quote by £300, yes I was amazed. My big worry is that they have now combined with Norwich Union which will no doubt mean the prices will sky rocket. But I would still recommend you to try a quote from them. Their online service gives a quote in minutes and you can either sign up then or save your reference for later. You have nothing to lose and all to gain. ... Read the complete review

My husband is a teacher and a member of a teaching union who have a special arrangement with CGU Insurance so when we needed to renew our car insurance we checked out the prices with them. For our car which is a Volvo 740 2 litre we received a quote for us both to drive of £224 after deduction of no claims discount but were really amazed when we then received a discount of £44.89 off this price for being a teacher. This is great we now have insurance with a reputable firm for a very good price. We have tried to get a better deal but this seems to be the best. So for any teachers out there give them a try. The phone number is 0845 840 0310 ... Read the complete review

Driving an N reg car purchase price 6,000 1.7. TD. Thought it would be high on insurance! Well when we returned to our original insurers it was, on quotation they said it qould be less than £300 but once we had bought the car we found a sting in their words a big sting. Insurance shot up to over £350 a year, no way we went on the look for something else. We found it in CGU a quote for just over £300 and direct debit available with no interest charged at all. The cover is by far better too, protected no claims (No matter how many bumps you have), legal cover, courtesy car, green card when abroard for 30 days in one year plus many extras. We snapped it up and set the ... Read the complete review
