Advantages: None up to now!

Disadvantages: Unsympathetic, no good at all when claiming

Yesturday I had a blow out on the motorway which resulted in me and my car up an embankment (could have been worse and luckily I'm ok!) But I was 70 miles from home, stuck on the M1!

I called churchill and was first told that blow outs are due to ware and tear of your tyres and my policy doesn't cover that! So I'm left helpless not knowing what to do! Got an AA man to tow me to the nearest lay-by and explained my situation, he told me it was nonsence and to ring them back! After a long arguement, they agreed to come pick my car up and take it back home and then they would have the car assessed and if they thought it to be wear and tare, I would be liable for not only my excess but also the cost of repairing the car and towing! AND they couldn't get me home, I had to make my own way home! Now this isn't the way to treat a young female passenger on her own in a layby off the M1, 70 miles from home!

I arranged for my partner to pick me up and agreed to go for the towing service, only to then be rung back and told my excess is £400! so I cancelled the towing and didn't relise that I'm part of my OH's joint AA policy so they got the car home!

Infact my excess is only £150, it's 400 if your under 21, which I am not! Churchill will be getting a very strongly worded letter about this and I will be changing insurance companies as soon as possible!

Summary: They are prepared to leave a young female alone in a layby, 70 miles from home!

I'm with Churchill and have to say they've never left me stranded on the 2 occasions I've needed them. I do hope you manage to get it sorted out and glad to hear you're ok. x x

If you have home insurance you may also have legal protection which would help if you take action against Churchil. I hate that bloody dog they use in the adverts.
