Advantages: cheap, good degree of cover
Disadvantages: none
I've just bought my car insurance from Churchill. I drive a 12 year old Renault 5 that I bought from new, and I live in Liverpool. The first makes my car insurance low, and the second sends it souring through the roof. As the last time the car was insured I lived in another 'lower risk' area of the country, my car insurance was compratively reasonable. When I came to renew my policy this year, I found that it had soured to £488. Almost as much as my car is worth. So for what seemed like one solid day, I rung around the insurance companies for a cheap quote on a third party, fire and theft policy. And unsurprisingly they varied enormously, from almost £500 to around £250 from Tesco. However, noone could touch the quote that I recieved from Churchill, at £196. This gave me third party cover to drive other cars with the owners permission, and I only have to pay £100 excess. So basically, what the other companies offered, minus the cost. I found their service on the phone to be very friendly and informative, and three days later I have recieved my policy documentation. Plus when I noticed that i had started my policy two days too later, and had to change the policy to begin at midnight on the day i was calling, this was not seen as a problem, and the date of the olicy was amended accordingly. So to conclude, whilst I cannot as yet (touch wood) comment on their quality of insurance, I can say that for me they were certainly the cheapest option with the best cover.

- 02/11/02 Sounds like a good deal. I should read the document confirming exactly what you are covered for though. Insurance companies are notorious for cutting corners by cutting cover! All the best :O) |
