I have been with Diamond car insurance for years now with three different cars. Initially I chose Diamond because it was the cheapest quote but I have remained with them since, just because they have met my requirements.
From the start of the policy when there were little cards in my welcome folder that I could keep in the car giving details I would need in the event of an accident, the insurance seemed to have a professional image.
What has really impressed me though was when I was involved in an accident in the car when although nobody was hurt thank goodness, I was in a bit of a shaken up state when I spoke to Diamond.
The advisor on the phone was very pleasant, polite and patient, and talked me through the next steps in the process clearly which helped to calm me down and feel that Diamond were taking charge of the situation. All was resolved with the minimum of stress and fuss.
When I have contacted Diamond regarding other issues such as changing my car or to ask other questions regarding the possible use of my vehicle, the advisor has always been polite and knowledgeable and if necessary, found out the information for me.
The only fault I have found is that sometimes you have to wait a while for an advisor to take the call but even this is not as bad as with some companies I have needed to contact.
My experiences with Diamond have to date been good and for this reason it is a car insurance that I trust and would be reluctant to leave.
Avoid this company, i can only describe them as thieves, we insured my daughter in law with them and informed them at the time that we did not want to automatically renew after 12 months but after the years insurance we had no claims against them and they decided they were going to take (STEAL) £880 out of our account without notifying us, when we requested our money back as we had taken out a policy with a more reputable company we were told they were going to charge us nearly £30 for their admin fees! MY ADVICE IS DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INSURE YOURSELF WITH THIS COMPANY-DIAMOND INSURANCE, SHOULD BE RENAMED MAGPIE INSURANCE!!!
I have been with Diamond for many years. I originally took insured my car with them as they provided really cheap insurance for female drivers. Unfortunately use of the differences between men and women as a risk factor in setting premiums for car insurance was deemed to breach EU rules on equality according to the European Court of Justice and from 21 December 2012 insurance companies were no longer able to base insurance rates on statistics about the differing road accident records of the sexes. Despite this, I have not noticed the impact on my premium, and it has remained low.
Diamond (as well as all other insurance companies I'm sure) are guilty of offering me ridiculously inflated renewal quotes every year. One should never accept the renewal quote - the general advice is to haggle or leave. I always use comparison sites to compare quotes from companies, and request Diamond to match the lowest quote I find. So far, Diamond have always been happy to do this. Although it's important for me to obtain the cheapest quote, I have had such a positive experience with Diamond, I would be willing to pay more to stay with them.
When travelling abroad I phoned Diamond to pay for additional cover however unknown to me, my comprehensive insurance happened to cover Europe which makes it even better value for me.

I have been involved in a car accident which wasn't my fault. The day after the accident, my car was collected and a courtesy car provided. Diamond were easy to contact and communicate with and the matter was resolved within a reasonable amount of time.
Overall I have had a very good experience with Diamond, and as long as their premiums remain good value for money, I will remain a loyal customer.
I am 18 and opened a policy with diamond when I passed my test, the annual insurance cost was high due to my age but was the cheapest I could find at the time. 6 months into my policy I was hit by a speeding driver on my way to work and my car was crushed on one side, I reported the incident to diamond and they assured me it would be followed up and dealt with. It is 6 months later and the company have been useless, they have no interest at all it is impossible to get hold of anyone in the company to help you and the service is appalling. Diamond will not support your side and will do everything they can to make you pay out more money. My annual insurance ran out today and due to my claim on the accident and diamonds disgusting service I am unable to afford to re-insure my car with a claim on my record and no support from the company at all! Now my 18th birthday present is not only crushed in on one side but can't be driven until the claim is 'sorted' which I have been told can take up to 6 years. Disgusting service, waste of money and time.
I purchased provisional car insurance from Diamond and am paying in monthly instalments. I found that they were the cheapest for me and offered a good quote. The monthly instalment option was very competitive and I found the customer support line when taking out my insurance to be very helpful and they answered all of my questions. I called customer support for some help regarding my Direct Debit and they were very helpful and made me feel at ease.
I also like that I can access my documents online through a secure system as this means that I can access it from anywhere and don't have to worry about loosing any documents. As I needed to tax my vehicle the same day that I insured it, it was also very helpful to have these documents available straight away online.
The only thing that they could improve on is offering better prices for Men as my partner's quote was ridiculous!
My daughter is insured with Diamond. They are not what they purport to be. Unhelpful, disorganised, and absolutely no support if you have an accident, which, in my daughters case was not her fault,. Appauling and callous service - a disgrace to the motor insurance world. Do not use this company.
My daughter used them for her car. Another vehicle ran into her and it's been 5 months and her car has still not been repaired. It is a premium rate number to speak to them and you are always left hanging on the phone while they check something. £22.50 to have a courtesy car put on her insurance for when the repair is done. Everything costs extra. I have been driving for 43 years and I have never come across a company like this where thier staff are deliberately obstructive. Found them through confused.com who just happen to be part of the same group. the group made record profits this year and it has been reported every employee gained a £1500 bonus, guess how they did that and who is paying.
I was a Diamond customer for 8 years, I was the main driver and my husband a named driver on our policy.
I only cancelled with them this year because I found myself without a car for a few months. Unfortunately the quote I got from them for my new car wasn't very competitive but that doesn't mean I am going to give them a bad review.
Firstly they have always been competitive in the past for renewals and secondly I wanted to tell you about the occasion when I actually had to make a claim.
I had a car accident about 2 years ago where a car crashed into me when he ran the lights on a roundabout (other drivers fault) I called Diamond immediately and I found them to be extemely helpful. They asked all about the accident and gave me very clear instructions. Now, I'm not sure if they were this helpful because the other driver admitted liability immediately but they organised the pick up of my car for repair, had a courtesy car delivered for me, organised a private hospital to take a look at my neck (I had a whiplash injury) they even offered to replace a whole set of wheeltrims because the garage had not put one of them back on properly when repairing it and I lost it while driving to work one day. One thing I was a bit iffy about was that I felt they were pushing me to claim compensation for my neck injury, I guess they are into the no win no fee business these days too!
The only downside to my dealings with Diamond is that most times you call them (other than to make a claim) you are put through to an overseas call centre which is quite frustrating if you are trying to talk about anything out of the ordinary. However any time I spoke to their call centre in Wales I honestly found them to be excellent.
I would definitely use Diamond again, they were my first choice but as I said earlier, this time they weren't as competitive for me this time.
I have been with Diamond for about 5yrs.When my renewal price in Aug09 was more than it's ever been due to a SP30 fine i decided to cancel(within the renewal window)and go elsewhere.I have since received a letter charging me 58.61 which i dismissed as i no longer had to deal with them.I then received a CCJ for 78.61 this week from a debt collections agency and apparently as i hadn't notified Diamond of a speeding ticket from July 2008 i was being fined.I've read the Car Insurance Guide i got when i joined&any amendments and it specifies any speeding convictions to be told at Renewal not immediately.i'm still awaiting a call back from Diamond.I have faxed off all the info i have to the debt collections agency so they are aware and have put my case on hold for 7 days. I would not recommend Diamond at all!!
I can only really review my experiences of Diamond, and my only experience is the pricing!
I have been with Diamond car insurance for six months now (my first six months of driving). I used www.comparethemarket.com to get my quotes for my first car and they came up the cheapest along with their sister company, Admiral. Their prices were very reasonable considering; I was 21, passed my driving test the day before I bought the car, drive an 03 reg convertible, and wanted fully comp insurance. Most companies quoted me £3000 upwards for 12 months - one even quoted me £6000! Diamond however quoted me £1400 including the £85 I opted to pay for premium breakdown cover.
I decided to go with Diamond as they offered a few extra perks than Admiral (who are specially for young drivers) including handbag cover! They also email me roughly once a month with offers for high street stores (eg. 15% off at Faith shoes this month), and have set up their own cashback site. It seems they really are geared towards women, and throw in a few extra goodies that other insurance companies don't. Saying that, I wouldn't have gone with them if they weren't the cheapest, but they were so the extras are just a little bonus!
So far, I haven't had to use my policy yet (touch wood) so I am as yet unaware of what their service is like. However, I did once have to ring them and gave up after I had been on hold for about 20 minutes. Maybe that was just me being impatient...
I have had my car insurance with Diamond for around 2 and a half years now. I first signed up with them because they were the cheapest quote I could find for a learner driver with a VW golf, back then my premium if I remember was just under £1000. When I got round to passing my test I was quite annoyed with Diamond as they charged me a fee of over £100 just for passing my test! It was not long until my 18th birthday where I received personalised number plates as a present, I rang up Diamond to change them over and that was an additional £16! I was beginning to wonder if Diamond were really worth sticking to!
When renewal time came about I received a letter stating my renewal price but actually found it £250 cheaper elsewhere. I rang Diamond up to cancel and they were quick to remedy this and knock £250 off the renewal price! I stuck with them and as I pay annually when it came to changing my car in the middle of my policy I had to stay with them again, despite their price being an extra £300 than other quotes I had found.
Renewal time soon came round again (January) and again I found a cheaper quote, I rang Diamond up to cancel my policy. This was done quickly and easily and this time no alternative quote was offered. I rang again and the woman I spoke to knocked over £500 off my renewal quote therefore bringing it down to less than my alternative quote. I paid the balance (I think it was around £700) then and waited to receive my documents through the post.
I waited and waited but nothing arrived so around 2 weeks later I rang them up to ask them to send another copy. They were sorry to inform me that I wasn't insured with them. I was absolutely livid as I had been driving my car around for 2 weeks with no insurance! It turned out that the woman I spoke to had forgotten to cancel the termination of my policy. After a lot of heated telephone conversations and a letter to head office they gave back 2 weeks worth of my money-something which I dont think really covered the hassle they had put me through.
Despite this, beforehand I had never experienced a problem with Diamond. I always find their customer care team to be very polite and helpful and aswell as being in English call centres they are always quick to answer the phone. They always confirm everything in writing for your peace of mind and always give a name for reference, I have found this useful on many occasions.
I would recommend Diamond as apart from the one hiccup, I have never experienced a problem with them before and they always manage to give me a cheaper renewal after some haggling!
I'm giving them 3 stars due to still being annoyed about the incident back in January!
I have mixed feelings towards Diamond.
As I'm sure like a lot of people, my only reason for changing to diamond for my car insurance was the price. Looking for reasonable priced car insurance when you have had an accident (in which the car was written off during blizzard like conditions) on your records is obviously more taxing and having trawled through comparison sights Diamond were by far the cheapest.
Five months into the policy and the unfortunate occurred - thankfully not my fault but a rather careless lorry drive with an unsecure load. Being stranded on the side of a lonely road in pouring rain I phoned diamond, since my car wasn't going anywhere by the shape of it. I had to listen to an automated message until I got talking to someone. I was pleased to find them very understanding, very helpful and advised that they would ring me back and arrange to have the car recovered by a local agency after I explained where I was ,giving them the name of the road and location. Four hours later (still standing by my lonesome self on a country road) the recovering vehicle arrived after being told by diamond to go to an area at least 60 miles away. I don't know who was more fed up - the recovery driver or me. I certainly was the colder of the two.
I have to give credit to diamond for the fact that come Monday morning however I was given a courtesy car, but be warned, although it was clearly not my fault, Diamond cancelled my insurance. I had never heard of this before, but upon buying a new car I had to take out a brand new policy, having lost the remaining 7 months on my original insurance. When I queried this on one of their 0870 numbers I was told that they used the rest as a payment for my then written off car. Surely there is something unfair about that.
Anyhow over the course of the next 8 months, I (yes, nearly always me) phoned diamond on their expensive numbers to speak to the advisor who was dealing with my claim. Numerous times I was told that they were still waiting to hear from the other party's insurance. Eventually and only because of my pushing (primariily done because I had temporarily lost my NCB as well as my excess) I was told that they other party were denying any responsibility. Diamond assured me they would commence legal procedings. When I continued to phone this was the line I was given until one day out of the blue 8 months later I got a letter to say the matter had been resolved.
So as already said, I have mixed feelings about Diamond. Their customer service, particularly their claim advisors could do with major training in communication. However their free legal cover was useful and as I said they did off the best deal at the time. In saying that I was not impressed that they cancelled my insurance and took the 7 months remaining on it as payment for my car, which surely they should have claimed from the other side. All in all I probably wouldn't go near them again unless there was a vast difference in price.
Diamond are the best insurance company that I have ever been with!
I searched online for a motor insurance quote when my insurance was up for renewal, and they came out as the cheapest.
I spoke to them on the phone and they confirmed the quote. I was impressed with the politeness of the person who I was speaking to and I decided to go with them.
They sent me all of the documents I needed very quickly. I forgot to send them my proof of no claims, so they rung me. They were very nice and just asked me to send it in as soon as I could. I did this and they confirmed my insurance.
After I had been insured with them for about six months, I had a car accident. It was only minor but these things can shake you up.
I called them and I was quite upset. The person I spoke to actually told me to go and have a cup of tea and then call back when I was ready. I could not believe how kind that was!
I did call back, and I explained what had happened. They took the details of the accident and explained that I needed to fill in a form, that they would send. The form arrived within a couple of days. I filled it out and sent it off.
I did not hear from them and I was concerned. I called them and they said that they were waiting to hear from the other party.
To cut a long story short, the other party did not get in touch. Diamond called me and told me that they were closing the claim (which apparently is done after a certain time has elapsed).
All in all, these are my favourite car insurer!
i am well chuffed with Diamond second time around i must say.
i bought my car in november of 2007 (a 2001 corsa) and they quoted me £300 to cover it fully comprehensive compared to Endsleigh wanting to charge me £600 for third party fire and theft, no difference in the car no modifications or anything. took up with Diamond they were a god send.
when i changed the car (to a Punto 2003) this year in June, diamond did not charge me anything extra like many other companies do.
I was £300 better off and insured fully comp. I was quite surprised actually as i did not have any no claim bonuses as i had an accident july 2007 with my ford focus (yes i have changed quite alot of cars haven't I) Ensleigh had wiped all of my No claim bonuses. The car was fixed to a fantastic standard even better than it was before.
This year my car was vandalised after five days of owning it i was gutted, Diamond arranged for my car to be picked up within two days, arranged for my courtesey car company (enterprise) to pick me up and give me car, I had no excess to pay either....bloody great i thought.
i picked my car up 9 days later, the fixed job on the front panel was very good but the bonnet work was not great and you could see panel work had taken place. you could see rings on the bonnet but i left it and did not complain.
the staff were very helpful and sympathetic. A1
i am very happy with Diamond and would use them again.
A car drove in to the back of my car while I waited at a crossing 3 month's ago. The other insurance company admitted liability immediately, I arranged the repairs myself and all Diamond had to do was reclaim the excess from the other insurance company. I sent the information needed off more than 6 weeks ago, was told it normally takes a week however I am still waiting. I am ringing on a regular basis and everytime I ring I am given a different excuse, I was told that my post with the information, had not been opened, this two weeks after I was sent a letter by Diamond, saying that the claim for the excess had been sent to the third party insurers, last week it was because the other insurance company were disputing liability, when I pointed out that Diamond had written to me on more than one occasion to say the the third party insurer had admitted liability, she acknowledged that this information was available to her, but she had not read it. Today I was told that I was lucky that things were progressing so fast, however the other insurers were now disputing that they ever received the claim for the excess and Diamond can't prove that they sent it in the first place!
