Direct LineNewest Review: ... line but according to their website this cover is standard (see http://www.directline.com/about_us/news_ 141005.htm ). Unfortunately, as I am under 25, I am excluded from what is supposedly 'standard'. They didn't tell me this when I bought the policy and If I had not read it in detail I would have been driving uninsured. I read all the policy documents online before buying and this ... more |

Signed up to direct line car insurance due to better than average cover, including being allowed to drive other cars 3rd party. I couldn't find much information on line but according to their website this cover is standard (see http://www.directline.com/about_us/news_141005.htm ). Unfortunately, as I am under 25, I am excluded from what is supposedly 'standard'. They didn't tell me this when I bought the policy and If I had not read it in detail I would have been driving uninsured. I read all the policy documents online before buying and this exclusion is not there, only in the schedule which you cannot view before you buy. I called the to complain, and ... Im a young driver, i started at the age of 17, occasionally driving my father cars "whilst building my own no claims discount". Its now 2 years down the line, and his decided to give me the car for my 19th birthday. In a perfect line of thought, after having 2 years on his policy, and then this year coming on my own policy, i was fully expecting to leave with 3 years no claims.. As with most companies, everything was fine until the day I had a problem. Someone drove into the back of me and did quite a lot of damage. The guy admitted it was his fault and told his insurance company so. Direct Line sent me loads of paperwork to fill out as well as receipts for the £300 of repairs that I had to pay for. I then heard nothing more. My insurance was up for renewal a few months later and, as my claim was still being dealt with by Direct Line, I didn't feel that I could go elsewhere as I probably wouldn't ever see ... Awful company to deal with. I was trying to get an address from them to send information they required had to speak to 6 yes 6 different people for one address. One even put me through to church hill?? Explain that! Yes they are cheap but trying to resolve a car insurance claim even though they were'nt liable took nearly 1 year! Trying to claim the home insurance £25 admin fee back i sent all the relevant paper wok off guess what. They havent recieved it. How conveniant. Cheap yes customer service absolutely terrible!

Well as recently just passing my test I bought a car and was looking for insurannce. My friends were all telling me about all these price comparison sites. I did try them and still found all these still quite exspensive so I watched a tv advert on direct line saying that it was not on any comparison sites that you have to get in touch with them directly. So I went on the website and was trying to get a quote I filled in some details by going through the step by step online instructions. At the end of it I was able to get my quote which was really good it was two hundred pound cheaper than anywere else I was looking. I the get monthly letters telling ... Read the complete review
