Advantages: Quick pick up

Disadvantages: Try to get away with giving you the least money possible

My car was hit by a careless driver whilst parked outside my house. Direct Line had the car towed away very quickly to the garage of their choice, who later told me that the repairs would be £2300, so the car was a write off. Direct Line then sent out their engineer, who said the car was worth ... £2300! Quite a coincidence ... have pointed out to DL that the car is worth at least a thousand more than that, but they refuse to budge because of minor vandal scratches to the bodywork (for which they say they've deducted over £800 from its value). I will NEVER get my insurance from them again.

Summary: A rip-off, i'm afraid
