Advantages: Errr,...I guess the little red telephone is quite cool !!

Disadvantages: Keep putting you on Auto Renewal against my wishes

Cheesed off with being put onto Automatic Renewal even though I have phoned them to stop it. I had been a Direct Line customer for many years and at first they were competively priced which encouraged me to switch house buildings and contents and vehicle breakdown cover to them as well as motor insurance. However, as their premiums started to rise well above the rate of inflation each year, I tried looking elsewhere and found DL were no longer a good deal. I then found that DL put my policies onto Automatic Renewal so they could just take the money before I had decided whether to renew with them. I pointed out that they had not asked me and they said it was up to me to phone them to cancel the Automatic renewal. It turns out that I have to do this every year for each policy. Sod that!! After a tip off from a friend, I tried Confused.com and discovered that I was paying over the top for DL's 'good deal better' I halved my premiums by going to other companies. Now I have just one more policy to shift elsewhere and I am DL free.

Summary: Look elsewhere, save hassle and grief
