Young drivers dont bother, theres no such thing as your own no claims (Direct Line)

Im a young driver, i started at the age of 17, occasionally driving my father cars "whilst building my own no claims discount". Its now 2 years down the line, and his decided to give me the car for my 19th birthday.

In a perfect line of thought, after having 2 years on his policy, and then this year coming on my own policy, i was fully expecting to leave with 3 years no claims..

However, ive im now going to leave with 1 years no claims, and a "documented 2 years good driving certificate". Unless i can find an insurance company that will recognise this, its not worth the paper its written on.

Its been a waste of my time, and my friend who started off paying 3k for his first policy, is now better off driving his 2L BMW, than i am driving my 1600cc Petrol....

This to me is a total misconception and false advertising. Ive now spoken to direct line and asked for the documentation, which she couldn't find, but pointed me to there new information, which states this on there website.

ive lost out massively on 2 years no claims, and its going to cost me because of it.

Summary: I wish id payed 3 grand for my first year, ive wasted the most 2 valuable years !
