Almost drove uninsured! (Direct Line)

Advantages: good price

Disadvantages: misleading, no real effort to resolve complaints

Signed up to direct line car insurance due to better than average cover, including being allowed to drive other cars 3rd party. I couldn't find much information on line but according to their website this cover is standard (see http://www.directline.com/about_us/news_141005.htm ).

Unfortunately, as I am under 25, I am excluded from what is supposedly 'standard'. They didn't tell me this when I bought the policy and If I had not read it in detail I would have been driving uninsured. I read all the policy documents online before buying and this exclusion is not there, only in the schedule which you cannot view before you buy. I called the to complain, and after 1/2 hour on the phone the best they can offer is to waive the cancellation fee. They couldn't point me to where I was supposed to have got this information.

I'm canceling my home insurance policy with them too. There is nothing wrong with it but I'm angry.
