Advantages: no hassles and cheap

Disadvantages: none yet!

This is our first year that we have insured with direct line. Although we haven't had to make a claim yet (thank god!) they have been just as good as the ads claim!
I made just one phone call to direct line, although I did have to listen to busy music for ages!, and spoke to a very helpful operator who was not pushy in any way.

The quote I was given for our new nissan micra was approximately £200 cheaper than the insurance we were paying for with Endsleigh insurance who are just insurance brokers. The direct line operator was worried at my silence when he gave me the quote and appologised for it being so high! I was gobsmacked! It would apparently have been even cheaper had I not been under 25.

I am only the named driver on the insurance and my fiance is 35. The operator told me that the price of the premium would go down once I was the spouse! Even better! (another good reason for getting married ;o)

As soon as I had called and got the quote they put it in the post for us to check over and sign and return. Once we had then got our previous insurer to contact direct line and validate our no claims we were insured!

It was so easy and stress free. I would recommend Direct Line to anyone looking for affordable car insurance.

Their website seems to be 'offline' at the moment, though, as I've just tried them. However, previously when I was younger (19-21) they gave us quotes that were way too high even though I was the named driver on my partner's insurance and he was 25. I think it might also depend on what you do and whether you're male or female. I found a lot of insurers wouldn't touch us when they found out I was a student. But it's always worth trying and ringing round!
