I've only just bought my first car, and I was dreading phoning up all the insurance companies as I'd heard loads of horror stories about how much they charge. Sp I got the phone book out and sat down for a horrible day.

I actuallt started with direct line (no particular reason) and they were really friendly, this surprised me, but as I found out later lots of companies (with only a few exceptions) are nice when they want your money. I got their quote very quickly, and moved onto the next company. They were all more expensive. Some were similar but direct line was the best.

So I bought the insurance from them, and never having done this I assumed it would take me a while to get the stuff through the post, signed blah blah blah, but no, surprise again. They sent the cover note to the dealer as I requested so that they can sort out the tax disc, and sent me my stuff to sign in I think 2 days. Whats worse is that it was all so simple. Read this sign this, send a copy to us. That was it. OK that and a load of junk mail, but I can live with that.

All in all Direct Line made a supposed painful process nice and easy. Mind you I still had to give them loads of my money.
