Advantages: None what so ever

Disadvantages: Not enough room to list this companys short comings

2 Years ago i was involved in a slight accident which resulted in the car landing in a shallow ditch. Before coming to rest in this ditch the car knocked over a wooden fencepost which in turn unearthed its concrete foundation. This explained obviously i was going nowhere and was in need of assistance. After calling the given phone numbers i was pleasantly supprised by the arrival of a Direct Line Pickup 25 minutes later. The so called mechanic proceeded to hum and ha and inspect the damage caused by the upturned concrete. Fifteen minutes after his arrival this mechanic informed me that the car would need to be lifted off of the obstruction as it was jammed under the subframe. This was an easy task however it would require the use of heavy equipment which apparently was not part of my policy. Using the old fashioned quote of if you give me a drink i can do the job for you Mr mechanic hooked the car up and sped off down the road dragging my car with him. The result of this astounding piece of idiocy was a warped chasis, busted sub-frame and a gear box swinging in the wind.
Obviously i complained and was instructed to take the car to a garage, to cut a long story short. The garage ( Gowrings of Swindon) then proceeded to all but destroy my car with a series of repairs which have now lasted 2 years. Among these were paint jobs which peeled off oil and grease stains to the seats and upholstery and two front seats that list allmost as much as the Titanic before it sank. To this day the front seats lean towards each other at an unmissable angle. Unmissable that is to everyone apart from the head mechanic at Gowrings and the Direct Line asessor. The last straw came at renewal time when to my amazement my premium had risen by a staggering 53%. I have now changed insurance companys and am happy to date.
To conclude this is an insurance company that you can all do without whom despite complaints that number in the high double figures have still failed to repair my car.
