Disadvantages: Prefers customers over 21 usually, High performance cars are usually expensive

Quite suprised to hear myself say this, but I would actually recommend Direct line for car insurance especially if you sign up on line. Apart from the fact that you can save quite a few quid in admin fees because your creating the policy yourself, you also get a chance to play around with some of the policy features, that more often than not you can't do over the phone. By playing around with your voluntery excess for example you can increase the cost of your insurance or decrease the cost. You can even set you excess to be £0 if you wanted to, which I never new before until I tried it. You can remove the added insurance costs of, legal fee cover or personal liability cover. These are things that some people take for granted when they renew their insurance policies and probably have paid for them for years without even knowing. Although I'm not advising anybody to take them off their policy if you want to get a more competitive quote or better still a policy that suits your needs, then this is perfect.
The great feature is that you get your quote instantly as it flashes at the top of the screen and automatically changes as you amend the details in each section in order to achieve you more competitive quote. After buying on line all your details and policy are sent to you by 1st class post and usually arrive within 2-3 days. you can't say better than that. No boring telephone calls, or being put on hold or better still having to phone between thier working hours. Its a 24 hour, 7 days a week service on-line and you can do it from the comfort of your own home in your own time!
