My advice - pay the extra , don't insure through Direct Line, If a claim goes wrong, you'll never speak to the same person twice, no one person deals with anything, and you can be speaking to someone from the other end of the country. We have had similar experiences as others when trying to sort out a claim, does anybody in that company speak to each other!.

Best was when a non electrical engineer fixed all the wires in a broken steering column. The car went in with an immobiliser and alarm, it came out of direct lines approved repairers with neither, nor had the bothered to replace the fuse box cover, and the wires were hanging from the steering column. We took it to the makers garage to put the damage right.
