Signed up to direct line car insurance due to better than average cover, including being allowed to drive other cars 3rd party. I couldn't find much information on line but according to their website this cover is standard (see http://www.directline.com/about_us/news_141005.htm ). Unfortunately, as I am under 25, I am excluded from ... Read the complete review

Im a young driver, i started at the age of 17, occasionally driving my father cars "whilst building my own no claims discount". Its now 2 years down the line, and his decided to give me the car for my 19th birthday. In a perfect line of thought, after having 2 years on his policy, and then this year coming on my own policy, i ... Read the complete review

I insured my car with Direct Line about 6 years ago purely because it was the cheapest offer I had from the few quotes I gathered. As with most companies, everything was fine until the day I had a problem. Someone drove into the back of me and did quite a lot of damage. The guy admitted it was his fault and told his insurance company so. Direct ... Read the complete review

Awful company to deal with. I was trying to get an address from them to send information they required had to speak to 6 yes 6 different people for one address. One even put me through to church hill?? Explain that! Yes they are cheap but trying to resolve a car insurance claim even though they were'nt liable took nearly 1 year! Trying to claim the home insurance £25 admin fee back i sent all the relevant paper wok off guess what. They havent recieved it. How conveniant. Cheap yes customer service absolutely terrible!

Well as recently just passing my test I bought a car and was looking for insurannce. My friends were all telling me about all these price comparison sites. I did try them and still found all these still quite exspensive so I watched a tv advert on direct line saying that it was not on any comparison sites that you have to get in touch with them ... As a young male driver, insurance is a complicated issue for me, with most companies charging excessive premium's or refusing to insure me at all. My insurance is with direct line, and I have largely been happy with the service they have provided me. I pay around £900 a year, but being 18 years old and having no no claims discount, that's actually ... Read the complete review

DIRECT LINE INSURANCE Direct Line is a well-established Insurance Company based in Scotland. They sell all types of insurance including, car, house, travel, mortages, and life insurance. They are not included in the comparison website list of insurance companies. They do not have shop premises so they cut out the middleman. Their ... Read the complete review

Direct line is a company that offers a number of different services, such as: car insurance, home insurance, life insurance, travel insurance and even mortgages and savings! I was looking for car insurance as mine was due to run out, so I went onto Direct Lines website and got a quote for about £978 for me and my partner. I thought this ... Read the complete review

Dont use this company. Just got a new van and insured it with direct line. 2 weeks later it was stolen. Direct line insisted that the van was not insured with them, but it turns out that the sales rep just forgot to change my insurance details over to the new van! But to sort this out it took along time and them needing to go through their ... Read the complete review

let me share with you my direct line nightmare, I am a 19 year old student who passed my test in August 2007. My elder brother was heading off to Australia for a year so instead of buying me a car and sorting out my own insurance policy my parents decided to add me to his as a named driver as i earned my own no claims discount. Having been brought my first car in 2002 by my parents my dad to be the main policy holder because of the finance and me and my brothers were named drivers on the policy- which direct line said was fine even though we were the main drivers. My husband has used direct line for his car insurance for most of the years he has owned a car! I passed my test in September 2007 and went onto his Direct Line policy. The change was made immediatley and didnt cost that much more which was good. An additional advantagewas that I would build up my no claims bonus (although this only applies if ... This is the worst motor insurer I have ever used! When I first took out my policy with them, I was attracted to them by their cheap quote, and the fact that I could go on my Mothers insurance (being a new driver) ands still build up my new claims policy. I thought that this wa a great deal! I renewed my insurance with them ... Read the complete review

Well what can I say Directline were the cheapest insurer by far when it came to insuring my car. I am only 18 but they gave me a reasonable quote. The online quoting system was certainly very quick and easy to use. One of the main attractions of direct line apart from the price happens to be the fact that if you wish to pay monthly then they dont ... Read the complete review

I have been with Direct Line for a number of years on Motor Insurance and am happy with their service. You never know what level of service you will get until you need to claim. I hoped I would never need to claim. Then a woman reversed into my car (I was walking back to it) and the car appeared to be undamaged. I took the registration ... Read the complete review

I am still in the process of trying to sort out a claim made two months ago (non fault), they never ring back, loose paperwork, claim papers haven't got to them. Eventually agreed on a price, the cheque didn't turn up, phoned to chase it and apparently they never agreed to send it. Really hard work trying to get anything out of them. DO NOT INSURE WITH DIRECT LINE!!!

CUSTOMER SERVICE????????? IT'S NOW BEEN 1 HOUR AND 54 MINUTES WAITING TO BE PUT THROUGH TO AN ADVISOR AND STILL WAITING!!! THE INNANE RAMBLINGS ABOUT BEING PATIENT AND ON ROUTE TO A REPRESENTITIVE ARE MERELY ADDING INSULT TO INJURY.
THIS IS CUSTOMER DISERVICE LIKE I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE.
THE SYSTEM INSISTS I GIVE A RATING SO I HAVE TO GIVE 1 STAR EVEN THOUGH I WISH TO AWARD NONE.

I have been with Direct Line for many years and had no problems, but then again I hadn't had an accident. I had a non fault accident last September, all was going well until (because of their attitude) I chose not to use the recommended repairer, I told Direct Line about this and they were fine about me using another garage. I have been on my partners car insurance for years, but due to this I never gained any no claims bonus as I was a named driver, so after having a bad accident last May I got my own car and had a look around to see which car insurance would suit me. Cheesed off with being put onto Automatic Renewal even though I have phoned them to stop it.
