Direct Line offer all sorts of different insurance with them including car insurance, home insurance and even life insurance. I joined up with them 2 years ago and it was a tough call as Churchill were just as good as them. Direct Line have been poor though when it has come to paying out and also have not been so helpful on the phone ...

Dont use this company. Just got a new van and insured it with direct line. 2 weeks later it was stolen. Direct line insisted that the van was not insured with them, but it turns out that the sales rep just forgot to change my insurance details over to the new van! But to sort this out it took along time and them needing to go through their ...

let me share with you my direct line nightmare, I am a 19 year old student who passed my test in August 2007. My elder brother was heading off to Australia for a year so instead of buying me a car and sorting out my own insurance policy my parents decided to add me to his as a named driver as i earned my own no claims discount. BIG ...

Having been brought my first car in 2002 by my parents my dad to be the main policy holder because of the finance and me and my brothers were named drivers on the policy- which direct line said was fine even though we were the main drivers. At the time they didnt offer named drivers to build up their own no claims discount and it was only four ...

My husband has used direct line for his car insurance for most of the years he has owned a car! I passed my test in September 2007 and went onto his Direct Line policy. The change was made immediatley and didnt cost that much more which was good. An additional advantagewas that I would build up my no claims bonus (although this only applies if ...

This is the worst motor insurer I have ever used! When I first took out my policy with them, I was attracted to them by their cheap quote, and the fact that I could go on my Mothers insurance (being a new driver) ands still build up my new claims policy. I thought that this wa a great deal! I renewed my insurance with them ...

Well what can I say Directline were the cheapest insurer by far when it came to insuring my car. I am only 18 but they gave me a reasonable quote. The online quoting system was certainly very quick and easy to use. One of the main attractions of direct line apart from the price happens to be the fact that if you wish to pay monthly then they dont ...

I have been with Direct Line for a number of years on Motor Insurance and am happy with their service. You never know what level of service you will get until you need to claim. I hoped I would never need to claim. Then a woman reversed into my car (I was walking back to it) and the car appeared to be undamaged. I took the registration ...

I am still in the process of trying to sort out a claim made two months ago (non fault), they never ring back, loose paperwork, claim papers haven't got to them. Eventually agreed on a price, the cheque didn't turn up, phoned to chase it and apparently they never agreed to send it. Really hard work trying to get anything out of them. DO NOT INSURE WITH DIRECT LINE!!!

CUSTOMER SERVICE????????? IT'S NOW BEEN 1 HOUR AND 54 MINUTES WAITING TO BE PUT THROUGH TO AN ADVISOR AND STILL WAITING!!! THE INNANE RAMBLINGS ABOUT BEING PATIENT AND ON ROUTE TO A REPRESENTITIVE ARE MERELY ADDING INSULT TO INJURY.
THIS IS CUSTOMER DISERVICE LIKE I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE.
THE SYSTEM INSISTS I GIVE A RATING SO I HAVE TO GIVE 1 STAR EVEN THOUGH I WISH TO AWARD NONE.

I have been with Direct Line for many years and had no problems, but then again I hadn't had an accident. I had a non fault accident last September, all was going well until (because of their attitude) I chose not to use the recommended repairer, I told Direct Line about this and they were fine about me using another garage. Well what a mistake ...

I have been on my partners car insurance for years, but due to this I never gained any no claims bonus as I was a named driver, so after having a bad accident last May I got my own car and had a look around to see which car insurance would suit me. Direct Line was one of the cheapest and as it is advertised on television and the ...

Cheesed off with being put onto Automatic Renewal even though I have phoned them to stop it. I had been a Direct Line customer for many years and at first they were competively priced which encouraged me to switch house buildings and contents and vehicle breakdown cover to them as well as motor insurance. However, as their premiums started to rise ...

I booked travel insurance with direct line for the first time before going on holiday to the U.S. I lost my brand new digital camera while there and made a claim on returning to the UK. The service i received from Direct Line was efficient, sufficient and friendly and am very happy with my replacement camera which took about a week to process a claim for.

I have nearly everything insured with Direct Line, both our cars, our house and our life insurance. We also have Direct Line breakdown cover and home protection (if your boiler breaks down etc). They also provide a number of other products such as holiday insurance, pet insurance, loans and mortgages. We have been with Direct Line Car ...

I had an accident 5 1/2 months ago. It was not my fault and the other party admitted all responsibilty. I am fully comp with 5 years no claims. Costs me about £500 a year. I had to pay upfront for a car hire, because my car was not road-worthy, and a £250 excess. They punted off the collection of this money to a ...

My car was hit by a careless driver whilst parked outside my house. Direct Line had the car towed away very quickly to the garage of their choice, who later told me that the repairs would be £2300, so the car was a write off. Direct Line then sent out their engineer, who said the car was worth ... £2300! Quite a coincidence ... have pointed out to ...

Note: I am insured by Privilige, but they are underwritten by Direct Line (DL). During the high winds ~ 18th January, 2007, a roof tile came loose and landed conveniently on the tailgate of my Toyota Avensis, which was parked on the drive at the time. I informed DL and decided to take the car to my local Toyota garage for an estimate ...

I probably drive 40k miles a year so it inevitable that at some stage I would get a chipped windscreen. You'd think this would happen on the motorway but mine didn't. I'd cleared the motorway and was half a mile from home. Some guy was in his garden mowing his grass and must have hit a stone in the grass because it flew out of the mower and ...

OK, let me tell you my tale. Having read the reviews here I can only assume that the high raters have not gone through the Directline (hereafter referred to as DL, because if I have cause to write it out fully too many times I’ll probably punch a hole clean through the monitor) process. That those people are not yet aware of the utter ...
