I'm the first to write a review on Endsleigh Insurance, so here goes.

My Experience
*************

I joined Endsleigh because they were being promoted by universities as being good for students, and they undercut my last policy by £50 so I decided to change it.

By this time I already had 1 years no claims bonus. I was 9 months through my policy and I decided to get a new car. When I went to change my insurance I was told that I could'nt because they were in a law suit with my insurers, as they went bankrupt (Drake Insurance). As Endsleigh are insurance brokers, I was insured by Drake through Endsleigh. THEY DID NOT TELL ME THAT DRAKE HAD GONE BANKRUPT.

After a week of hastle phoning them and the head office, I was told that I could change my policy for my new car. As the new insurance turned out to be £400 dearer than another quote I had off another company, I opted to cancel my policy. Then I was told that if I canceled, I would lose 9 months of my no claims bonus. As I am a student I could not afford to stay with Endsleigh and pay £400 more for insurance when I could get it cheaper elsewhere. I had no choice but to cancel.

Thinking I almost had 2 years no claims, I was now back where I started at 1 year.

Update
******

I had a renewal quote for my last policy and found that they were asking too much due to supposed rises in insurance. Previous to this Endsleigh sent me a letter asking me to give them a call to receive a new quote. This was the last thing I wanted to do, due to my last experience and I even tried over 10 insurance companies online and numerous ones in the Yellow Pages.

As I didn't find the quote I was looking for, I decided to give Endsleigh one last chance and gave then a ring. The qoute I got off them was better than any I had received off any other company, so I decided to take out the policy. I am still not fully convinced with them, but only time will

tell. After all, i'm a student and money matters.

Having now been with Endsleigh nearly 3 years I can say a lot has changed since my first experience. When this year's renewal came up, I was sent a quote in the post by Norwich Union as well as a letter from Endsleigh informing me to give them a call to review my insurance policy. At the time I was over 21 and had over 4 years no claims bonus so my insurance was due to go down a lot. Norwich Union gave me a very competitive quote of £480 (fully comprehensive), so I decided to contact Endsleigh to see if they could better it. In order for them to keep my services they did everything they could to beat this quote and even added on staff discount to bring it to £463 (fully comprehensive).

I decided that in order to save the hastle with changing companies I stayed with Endsleigh and got my insurance for £463. Later this year I was informed by a family member that points on your driving licence makes a difference on your insurance and that it is a driving conviction. Having not taken into account that points were a conviction that had to be disclosed, I was looking at a void insurance policy. I was therefore persuaded to call Endsleigh and get it changed, because my policy wouldn't be worth a penny.

At this stage I would like to point out that if you have web access at home, you can log onto www.endsliegh.co.uk and click on the 'phone me' picture. This is exactly what I did because I could not find a phone number. As soon as you input your telephone number for Endsleigh to call you back, and press 'submit', your phone amazingly rings no less than 1 second later! You get through within seconds!

After I gave them a call, the guy on the phone guessed that it would probably go up by about £300, considering I had 2x3 points on my licence. However, he said that he will put me through to customer services and they will sort me out. After I disclosed that I h
ad '
39;code SP30' convictions (in excess of 30mph speed limit) the lady said that she would check the database and phone me back with my new quote. Fearing the worst that I would have to pay about £300 more, I also quickly got some quotes on the Web. More bad news, I was looking at around £968-£2000! So you can believe my relief when Endsleigh phoned me back and said that they would put through my changes on my current policy and it would remain the same.

So overall, after an unpleasant experience I had a great experience with excellent service. I received my new policy through the post as promised a few days later and all was well.
If your looking for an insurance quote, give them a try. Once you take out an insurance policy with them, they will more than likely beat any other quote you get when the time comes to renew.

Be warned that the policy may have stayed the same but due to the late disclosure of your points your next renewal for them will take into account the points and the premium will be massive. Another point is, isn't it obvious that penalty points on your licence will affect your insurance! If you've been convicted of speeding twice there is a pattern that shows you enjoy driving outside the limits and you are a liability to insure. I may be an insurer and have to tell people there is a continuous duty of disclosure (insurers need to be told if you have points as soon as you have them) on a daily basis but it seems ignorant that you don't think points on your licence will affect your premium!
