When my previous car insurance provider nearly doubled my premium at renewal time I took to the comparison sites to see if I could find a better deal. Esure came top of the pike saving me a good few hundred pounds, I was even more pleased to discover that I could get additional cashback as a new customer. The policy details were easy and straight forward to complete, all done online. A phone number was provided if I wished to speak to an operator in person. Email confirmation came through almost immediately followed quickly by my documentation in the post.
At this stage I was very impressed by both the service and the price. All was well until I came to make an amendment on my policy when we moved house. I called Esure to notify them of a change of address. I was hold to the call centre for a few minutes before speaking to an operator. I was then told that an administration charge would be added to my account meaning all future direct debits would be adjusted. I expected something nominal but did not expect to be slapped with a £75 charge just to change an address on my policy but what choice did I have? I explained that I thought the charge was excessive but the operator showed little concern. Later in the year I sold my car, upon buying a new one I anticipated what I would need to pay with Esure. No surprises this time when I called to make a change to the policy I was hit with another £75 charge. So all in all I have paid an additional £150 on my policy this year, something I will certainly bear in mind when my renewal is due. Obviously this company draws customers in with competitive quotes then cashes in when they have you all sewn up, personally I would rather deal with a company that is a bit more upfront from the outset.
i was hit by an esure customer while parked at the side if the road and while they accepted full liabilty i am still here 5 months later with with a bad back, unable to do my job.also i have no money coming in for 4 months, i cant pay my loans, rent and credit cards and yet they still refuse to give me an interim payment so next week when all of my money, my retired fathers and my 98 year old nans money runs out i have to declare myself bankrupt because of the greadyness of esure. i dont know what to do because of these people. please if you care about the other person do not choose these people, and that includes shelas wheels too
I needed car insurance, and having always gone with swiftcover who seemed the cheapest for me, i was shocked to find esure where completely undercutting them on price. I also found out i could get £75 in cashback if i went with esure.
I visited there website, and found it to be nice and colourful, with really easy to follow instructions. I entered all my details, and even was suprised that my voluntary excesses were £0, even better.
I decided to go for it, and purchased the policy. Within days i received my documents, all correct and in order. I recently called esure up regarding a chip in my windscreen, it was really easy to get hold of them,and no waiting on the phone for hours. My cover allowed me to have a free repair, and i happily accepted. They use autoglass as there repairer, so a well known company.
They say you can alter your details online, should you wish to modifiy your policy, however when i tried this recently it would not let me. So i did in the end have to call them up, again i got through straightaway, and my new documents were sent out very quickly. Although i was charged £25 for a change, a little steep i thought.
The only other little problem which has now been sorted is that the cashback that was owed to me, took over 7 months to arrive, and i realy had to push for it. But got it in the end, and it really made the policy very cheap indeed.
I was involved in a shunt which was my fault. Esure sorted all the details over the phone and quickly processed the claim. I recieved my cheque within a week of the car being written off. Also had a cracked windscreen last year which was sorted out straight away by their approved repairer. They may not be the cheapest but their quotes are competitive and as far as I am concerned their customer service is very good.
I've used esure for a few years and they've always been competitive on price. When I had a bump in my car late last year (my fault oops) they sorted everything out, no problems for me or the other party. No hassle and always a pleasant person on the other end of the phone. I've thought about changing to a slightly cheaper insurer this year but decided to stick with what I know in a reliable insurer
DON’T GET EVEN, GET ESURE ........ www.esure.com esure ® is a new insurance company set up by Peter Wood, the founder of Direct Line. At esure, they believe that better drivers deserve better policies which means bigger rewards with a good driving history. With most insurers the discount stops at 65% for 5 years no claims history but at esure they give 70% and this rises to 75% once you have earned a futher 5 years no claims history. Their car insurance policies seem to have an excellent package of benefits for complete peace of mind. Although this op is for car insurance its interesting to note that esure provide insurance for household contents & buildings too, with the belief that the same should hold true for these insurances as for car insurance; that you should be treated as an individual and you should not have to pay for the carelessness of others. Having previosuly worked in the insurance industry as a Broker for many years it has always astounded me that most insurance companies don’t offer any no claims discount for contents insurance. Well, at esure they do. If you have a 5 years no claims history they will give a 40% discount immediately rising by 1% each claim-free year to a maximum of 45%! If you renew with 5 years NCD you can protect the discont for a small premium. Having duly trudged my way around this site with the intollerable download time for each page almost making me quit on numerous occasions, I decided to exit the net and phone the company direct on 0845 603 7877 to check the premium I had quoted to me was in fact correct. A nice friendly man (I’ll him John for the sake of this op.) answered and after I had complained about their website being slow and that I couldn’t bear a moment longer trying to retrieve my original quote, John explained that it was even cheaper to get the quote on line so HE logged onto the internet for me his end and did my quote online HIMSELF – wow, how often w
ould that happen with any other company? Ummm, try probably NEVER. Anyway John then took me very quickly through the online screens as he came across them and entered all of hubby & my details and quick as a flash gave us confirmation of my original premium - 263.00GBP. We were gobsmacked by this premium when originally quoted so to have it confirmed by someone in person was excellent! My hubby’s previous insurers wanted to charge him ....... wait for it ......... 420.00GBP – that’s a difference of 157.00GBP for heavens sake! Regarding car insurance, they have emergency helplines operating 24 hrs a day, seven days a week. I'm not sure if these guys are selling car insurance as a loss-leader in their attempt to lure me into other products, but when I renewed my insurance with them in March 2002 they gave me a quote which left every other provider I had contacted looking a little bit silly. I'd had a renewal notice for £475 from my previous insurers, and a bit of calling around (to both brokers and direct providers) gave me a range of figures from slightly less than this to a hell of a lot more. I used the e-sure website and they gave me a quote of £250 for the same cover. I was obviously a bit skeptical about this so rang them up and spoke to a very knowledgable real person to confirm all my details, and everthing checked out. The service (both through the website and through their call center) were excellent, as was the follow-up (sending certificates through the post etc.). I can't complain about the price, I just hope it remains at the same kind of level at renewal time next year.
