Advantages: cant think
Disadvantages: cant think
Being a relatively new driver, I feel that I should do an opinion on the money eater that is car insurance. Ok, most of you people reading this are probably seasoned drivers, and have a relatively low premium, but not me, you see I've only been driving for a year and a bit, and so my premium is SKY HIGH. Like I said, insurance is a real money eater, a money sponge is you will. I do understand that people my age are considered to be dangerous drivers, or 'boy racers', and I do understand because you see them everywhere, flying along at 70mph on a 30 road. This makes me so mad, those kinds of people mean that I have to pay more, I hate having to pay for the mistakes or dangerousness of others. I'm a sensible driver, so I don?t think it is fair that I pay more for my insurance. Do you want to know how much I pay for my insurance? After shopping around the cheapest that I could manage is £800, a bit steep considering that I am a student and don't have a full time job providing me with vast amounts of cash. This just makes my hole deaper, and with other costs such as food, drink, rent, and so on, I can't really afford an extra £800 to pay, I just thank God for my parents, who kindly pay for my insurance. Oh yeah, I should also point out that it is £800 that I pay for a group 3 car. But I should cut down on the moaning and accept that it will be another few years before the mistakes of the few escape me and I will have cheaper insurance. Thanks for reading my opinion and I hope you enjoyed it more than I did writing it. Have a nice day!

- 22/08/01 Right with you Ben, I was 21 before I passed my test, and not because I was incompetent, but I couldn't afford it. |

- 22/08/01 Think yourself lucky - I passed my test just before going to uni and, even with my mum's help, could barely afford lessons - no way I can get a car, let alone insurance! Ben |

- 22/08/01 Sounds a lot of money, are you sure you shopped around enough? Anyway good luck with the car, it'll soon come down in price - after five years NCB! ;-> Kay |
