Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: took all my money
Having just received my motor insurance renewal from Direct Line, who I have been insured with for some time, I was shocked to see it had shot up about 20%!! I decide to try Insure.co.uk as advertised on the telly by Quentin Wilson. It is an easy to use site which asks you all the idiot proof questions to do with car insurance and then pops out a range of quotes from the lowest (suprisingly by their preferred insurer!!) to the highest (more than the car was worth!!!!!) and then obviously gives you the option to follow up. I quite liked the look of the quote so I clicked the take up button, and guess what?? Yes it could not be done on-line and I had to phone them just so they could interrogate me a bit more. The result was a quote about £15 more than on line. I was still impressed so decided to take up the monthly instalment option, and gave the rep my switch details for the deposit instalment and awaited the paperwork. This came through after a couple of days, and just by chance I looked at my bank balance.....BEWARE!!! THEY HAD TAKEN THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE INSURANCE!!!! I contacted them yesterday,(Saturday), and they were all apologetic and promised me that on Monday they will be transferring the balance (minus 1st instalment) back to my account. I have told them I will be on the phone all day Monday until it is done!!! A good service, but 1. Why bother with internet? 2. Look out for what is taken your bank account

den - 07/09/00 Do these people only have a premium rate phone no? I've noticed quite a few on-line companies slip that little extra 'charge' in |
