Advantages: Good price for me.

Disadvantages: Part time claim line. Force you to pay for the 'free' replacement car.

I stayed with Kwik Fit insurance for 2 years. But never again.

You never know how good an insurance company is until you need to claim. I ran into the back of someone else and therefore I needed to make a claim.

Firstly, the car was undrivable in a rough area where that type of car would disappear in minutes if it was left. So I rang the '24-hour' claim line to find out where the car needed to go and if they would arrange to collect it.

Well the staff were pleasant but I was told I would have to ring back after 8am since they don't deal with any claims or anything until most of the staff come in. I asked what he did and he worked on the 24 hour claim line which just take messages for other staff for when they arrive at 8am. Some 24 hour claim line - I hope this is changed now.

So, I phoned the AA (the breakdown company, not alcoholics annonymous) and they came and collected me and the car. The car was at the dealer within 30 minutes.

As they unloaded the car, Kwik Fit rang me back and told me I had to take the car almost 1 hour away. I said they would have to collect but they refused. The AA wouldn't take the car again without charging me (fair enough - they've done their job). It isn't really fair for an insurance company to expect me to drive a car with no front lights and a radiator with a whole big enough to fit a space shuttle in.

My insurance policy entitled me to a 'free' courtesy car. I managed to get one week of this but then I was told no more free car. They hadn't even started on my car yet since Kwik Fit were still decided on the best course of action. The garage loaned me a car, but I had to insure it because I hadn't gone to the 'authorised repairer'. Unfortunately when I rung, they wouldn't tell me where the 'authorised repairer' was because it was before 8am. Hardly my fault, but I had to pay for the insurance on the courtesy car anyway.

In the end I got my car back but I had been given no help on a morning before 8am, I was given a free car for one week, had to pay for the insurance on that car for the second week and was left without a car for three days.

Absolutely useless and couldn't recommend. I had recommended a few friends to them, but over the next year, the all went elsewhere.

Summary: If I really hated you, I might recommend them to you. But I am not sure even I am that evil.
