I had the miss fortune to have to deal with Albany Assistance after my accident over a year ago, I am still waiting for my compensation. My insurer Kwick Fit deals with Albany to for legal expenses etc.
After having months of problems with Kwick Fit insurance (see my review of them) I am still now in dispute with Albany.
I have found them to be very hard to communicate with, they take sever attempts to call, as there lines are always busy, when I did get through on one occasion the notes they had on the system about my accident where in complete contradiction to what I had been previously told. Don't try email them as I had three emails ignored. I decided to try write to them, after three letters where ignored I called them up, and was told we never received any letters. When they asked for further information to be posted they lost the information I sent to them, I was so untrusting of them I started to send all correspondence by recorded delivery,
My accident involved the third party driving into the back of me; Albany assistance contacted the third party's insurer and told me I would have to except 50/50 liability as there was no evidence of blame! Even though the back of my car and the front of their cars was caved in..... I don't know many people who do 30Mph in reverse into on coming traffic! I believe Albany was just trying to get the easiest option. I was told to respond ASAP in 7 days ( the cheek of it, after I had spent months chasing after them with lost letters, ignored emails etc). I responded that this was not acceptable; again it took me to do the chasing to move the process on again.
I have now basically forced Albany to take the other insurer to the small claims court.....over a month on from that letter and I haven't heard anything.....no surprise there....
My case is still ongoing now since 6/7/08
