Advantages: Very good claims service
Disadvantages: Very expensive when you change address
I have had Kwik-fit insurance for the past 1.5 years.
Disadvantage -
The premium goes very high if you change your address.
I had to take a new policy from kwik-fit itself to save money ( they were still the cheapest ).
Advantage -
Excellent claims service.
I had an accident few days ago. It was not my fault, so it was a non-fault claim.
Here is what happened -
1.) Accident - a guy hits me from behind, the rear bumper is damaged.
2.) I call kwik-fit to report it - Albany assistance is the company that handles claims. It was a long 15 min call to report it.
I was given 2 options -
a) I get it repaired myself and then claim the bills.
b) I get it repaired from their repairer and they will take care of everything.
3.) I called Albany a couple of days later and told them that i wish to use their approved garage.
4.) Next day the garage near my house called me and gave me an appointment for assessment. ( appointment we 3 days later )
5.) I got the car assessed in 20 mins once I went to the garage. Got tan appointment for repair which was 7 days later.
6.) Informed kwik-fit about it, so they can provide a replacement vehicle.
7.) On the day of the repair, the guys from the garage picked up my car from my house.
Few hours later the replacement vehicle was delivered at my house. Brilliant !!!!
8.) 3 days later the garage gave me a call to say my car was ready. I went to the garage, left the replacement vehicle at the garage and got my car.
9.) Called the hire company that provided the replacement vehicle to pick up their car from the garage.
Done !!!! Did not pay a single pound. Great Service !!!

- 17/11/09 I had appalling service with my claim. Charged me for the courtesy car that I was supposed to get. The garage repairing the car ended up getting me one, Kwik Fit charged me for the insurance on this 'extra' vehicle at £45 per week. Then they delayed repairs for over a week whilst 'deciding' whether to write the car off or not. Their 24-hour claims line was useless. My accident went down as my fault - so that might be the difference. |
