Motor Insurance in general

I own a 1995 Volvo 940 GLE Auto estate that has just passed it's MOT. I payed £100.00 to renew brake calipers and pads. I hold full comp insurance with Provident Insurance Co. I recently had a woman hit my car while it was parked in a Parking Bay. She admitted liability and so I contacted Churchill. Damage was just to the bodywork and I estimated that I could have got a reasonable repair for about three hundred pounds. Imagine my dismay when Provident wrote to me to say that they have written the car off and enclosed a cheque for £450.00 as final settlement, including £350.00 excess which I had to pay. Motor Insurance is something which cost around most people a month or more wages! When looking for motor insurance you need to look carefully on the internet as you can find some quotes with comparison websites and find insurance to be much cheaper this way. I have been with Churchill for a few years now and the service of them has been very good but they hardly cut down their prices.They hardly cut down when you get a bonus they cut around 70 pounds each year so far. Even with the no bonus claim with them at the age of 22 they have been charging me way too much. Churchill, the nodding Dog rip off OH YESSSSSSSSS. Today after selling my car I rang to cancel my car insurance with Churchill, I pay my insurance monthly where they take interest payments to make more money, the insurance has been running for less than 3 months. Easy cancellation, not so!!! A £50 cancellation fee, plus a further fee of £19:04p, to cancel breakdown attached insurance which was annually £35. & a 5th of the total car insurance and over half the annual breakdown fee. This is a pure rip off, for a few strokes on a computer keyboard they are charging the earth. Tesco car Insurance automatic renewal £320, Tesco on line quote (like for like) £228 !! Retention dept matched on line price, but I had to call them and threaten to cancel to get them to match. £92 difference in quote, same cover, same provider. Dont assume that auto renewals are fair, get a fresh quote. Wont be insuring with them anyway, Esure like for like quote £183 !! £137 saving over Tesco, who claimed on the new paperwork`The best quote for you on your renewal` `We go that extra mile to give you a good deal` Yea right........
