Advantages: Its legal

Disadvantages: over the top prices now

The price hikes for car insurance recently are I think more than unfair. I have just moved companies because my premium went up by over £100, I have never made a claim in over 3 years and to be honest im sick of it.

Where is the bonus in a no claims bonus if they just keep putting up the price. This is the fact with nearly all companies as they have all put up premiums I believe. I have paid over £3000 for car insurance since I started driving, I just feel once again the driver is forking out, these companies must be making some amount of money.

When will we get rewarded for not claiming instead of paying more this is as much of a disgrace as the petrol I think.

I know some people who have made a claim and it took ages to sort out, only seems to take minutes when they are taking the money

I do agree with much of what you say and I have SIX years no claims.
To add to what the others have said, there's also now (extra?) taxation built into your premiums that didn't use to exist.

I guess all you can do is search around as best you can to get the best deal. But I do sympathise - my son pays awesome amounts of car insurance. He can't wait till he's 25!

Steve is right. I work for a large insurance company, and yes they have shareholders and they have to make a profit, but also they need to have a pot of money at all times to pay out on claims
