Renault vs Gladiator (Motor Insurance in general)

I am the owner of a Twingo, a Renault model not on sale in UK and therefore left hand drive.

I moved to the UK 4 years ago and looked for an insurance.

The only insurance company that wanted to cover me was Gladiator (acting for Norwich Union in fact) the price was £600 - expensive but i had no choice really...

Few months later I moved from NW1 to NW8...and informed Gladiator...they raised the price to £750 - claiming it was due to a change of area and that prices are set up per postcode.

Then the renewal came the year after...£900...lazy i decided to carry on with Gladiator...

The year after (last december) came the new price...£1200...There I decide to do something about it so asked Gladiator to look around for another insurance company and they came up with Zurich for a price of £600. I was really surprised that they did not offered such price earlier (that should be the main point of a broker: looking for the best deal at renewal time!)...

When I received the new cover note I realised that they had my details wrong...completly wrong...they quoted an insurance for a Clio and not a Twingo...big difference!

Then I decided to give Renault a ring and they offered me a comprehensive cover (same cover than Gladiator)...for £600...so I moved to Renault and so far I've been delighted with them:

- really simple to get a quote
- really simple and clear contract
- free Breakdown cover, good Audio cover too
- no long waiting time when calling them
- cheap

I also experience difficulties with Gladiator to close my contract and get the refunds...it took time and a lot of phone calls...

So thumb up for Renault
and thumb down for Gladiator
