Advantages: Cheap, Good Cover, Good Admin
Disadvantages: None
I recently had to insure a car. With insurance I guess it is always best to give some background as different insurers have different appetites for different types of risk :- Car :- Fiesta 1.3 2 years old value about 6000GBP Me :- 32 year old male, 3 points speeding Postcode - low risk No Claims - full Type of cover - fully comp. I phoned round a load of companies and was getting typically 500GBP quotes. The cheapest was Admiral for about 400GBP, and I have used Admiral in the past and all my friends have found them to be very competeitive, so I almost accepted. Then I noticed that Nationwdie had sent me some circular on insurance so, without expecting too much, I phoned them. I really didn't think they would be that cheap. Anyway - they quoted 250GBP with comparable terms to Admiral. I accepted at once, in case it was a mistake. They took a crtedit card without charging a fee and the documents arrived 2 days later. Included in the pack is a nice step by step booklet that you can fill in if you have an accident - that can be very useful as often people are in shock after a serious accident and say or do silly things or forget to take full details. Nationwide are, of course, a very reputable company so I feel very comfortable that if I have any problems they will be resolved. Overall - very very impressive
