I am one of those people that can't resist a challenge, so when my renewal notice for insuring my car came in I decided to see what kind of a deal I could get through the internet.

The best deal for me turned out to be Norwich union in this instance. I pay £23.25 a month for comprehensive insurance with my no claims bonus protected. I can't say they are the best company for everyone, but this year they came out the cheapest for me.

All major insurance companies have similar services, the only differences are the excess & premiums, I of course never dreamed I would have to make a claim having 19yrs prang free motering under my belt.

Well yesterday the inevitable happened, another car hit me while I was stationary, the other driver claimed it was my fault even though I was not moving & the engine was not switched on!

I came home & rang Norwich union explaining that I had never had to claim before. The young man I spoke to could not have been nicer. I explained exactly what happened & he told me that they would deal with everthing, I had to do nothing. I was assured I could not have been my fault & they would arrange for my car to be repaired, supply a curtesy car, deal with the other insurance compay & recover my £100 excess.

First thing this morning I recieved a call from the repairers booking my car in to be fixed early next week.

This may be the same with all companies, as I have not been in this situation before I cannot comment. All I will say is the service & reassurance I have recieved from Norwich union has been superb & fast making what could have been a major worry into a fast efficient transaction. They even offered to ring my husband at work to explain things, although I had no worries on that score, maybe some husbands/partners might go mad.

So far I cannot fault the service I have recieved, maybe I am just lucky.
