January has rolled around again, and as if this month is not depressing enough as it is, my insurance was due. I was putting of the usual trawling through insurers websites and filling in my details time and time again only to be given extortionate quotes which I would not be taking up. Time was ticking away and i realised that i was going to have to get it out of the way sooner or later, and this was when a friend mentioned swift cover. I had never heard of them myself but as he told me about them and how they are an online only company i was quite impressed. he also told me that the quote they gave him was nearly one hundred pounds cheaper than any of the other companies had offered. so i decided to give them a try.
the website is very simple and straight forward to use, with a large bright orange link on the screen for "new car insurance quote". i will also mention that swift cover do both pet and home insurance, however i have not purchased either of these products. once you have clicked on the like for a new quote, you are taken to a page which takes your personal details such as name, address, number of years license helled etc. I expected this to be one of many pages, but to my surprise it was not, i was taken to one more page which requested my vheicle details. and then the next page gave me my quote. the reason i was given my quote so quickly was that the site "assumes" a few things about yourself, which speeds up the time it takes to obtain your quote. however if any of these assumptions are not valid for yourself then you can amend them accordingly and your quote will be recalculated. the assumptions the site makes are as follows...
You are the only driver
You or your spouse or partner is the owner and registered keeper
Your annual mileage is 10,000
Your car is kept overnight on the driveway
Your car is worth less than £30,000
Your car is fitted only with the manufacturer's standard security
Your car has not been modified

This saved me a lot of time, and once i had amended the assumptions to let them know that my car was kept in a garage over night, my quote dropped in price a little, which was fantastic.
another thing which i found good about the site was that it gives you the option to use a drop down menu to change your voluntary excess and this automatically re-calculates your quote so that you can see all the details on one page which helps you decide which option is best for you.
once i was happy with my quote i went on to purchase the insurance. this was simply another form for your card details and then stating if you wish to pay monthly or in one go. i was then taken to my online account area, which let me view all of my policy information. i was send an email detailing my login and password for this policy holder area for future reference which would allow me to log in and amend my policy as i need to.
the final thing which impressed me with swift cover was that i could simply email them over my proof of no claims instead of having to post it off to them, so all in all what i was expecting to be the usual time consuming task of finding and sorting out my new policy, turned out to be a thirty minute job, fantastic. anyone who is looking for a new insurance company, i highly recommend swift cover!!
