Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Bad company to deal with if you ever need assistance after an accident

Initially we were very happy with SwiftCover, they offered us by far the lowest quote for our car. We were a little put out that we were meant to print our own documents out as we had no ink in the printer....but we thought no more of it...if the police checked, we'd show as having insurance on their systems. So, we were happy, all in all.

We had to send proof on no-claims bonus into them, by email, so we scanned it in and sent it.....to cut a long story short (this happens again later too) SwiftCover seem to be very adept at losing your paperwork/documents when it suits them.

We were unfortunate enough to have an accident, and immediately following the recovery we spoke to Swift and cleared with them that if we paid cash to the recovery people the police called in that they would refund it to us. A few days later they refused to pay saying because it wasn't their recovery people they wouldn't pay. However, a complaint to a manager at Swift did resolve this and they did pay in the end.

Our car was declared a write-off, and we were pleasantly surprised when they made their first offer, it was the actual amount we insured the car for (£2000 and not the value of the car £1400). So we accepted that.

In the end it all worked out all right, but we did have a lot of trouble with them while making the claim - too much to be able to put in here - but we are now with the AA.

The verdict? You get what you pay for. We are no longer going for the cheapest insurance we can find, we are going for insurance we can trust. Cheap is okay if you never need to call on them, but if, god-forbid, one day you do have to call on them, you need someone you can trust to help you and not make a nasty situation worse.

Summary: Pay peanuts and you get monkeys

I was with them for a while, they had the Incentive of £50 cashback, which I received a check as promised.
