Advantages: low prices

Disadvantages: rude staff, will not fight for you

i would like to apologise in advance for the length of this post but i felt it was neccesary to get the point across. i hope this doesnt put anyone off reading it.

My husband started driving almost 4 years ago, got his first car and obv needed car insurance. he'd just left the army and wasnt flush so needed cheap insurance. we shopped around and found tesco to be the cheapest. they were really good prices with legal representation, courtesy car, breakdown cover the lot. we thought they were great.

late last year he's car wouldnt start on our drive. he had asked for the full breakdown cover (so they'll come even when your at your house) when he had renewed a few months earlier and when he phoned them to come out they said he didnt have the full cover.he said that he had asked for that and they said they would send someone but would have to charge him £25 while they investigated, well eventually they came back and said that they had made a mistake. problem sorted.

Then just before christmas someone smashed into him. he was at a box junction, he looked and the road was clear so he turned right, after he had turned a car came along at great speed and hit the back side of his car (back tyre and part of passenger door and also completly f*****g up his axle) as he was leaving the junction and entering the main road. my husband called the police because the other guy was laughing at him (i must add that my husbands nose was pooring with blood because his airbag didnt come out due to being hit on the backside which must make this guy a loony to laugh).

Anyway to the point about tescos being a disgrace, they sent him accident report forms which he filled in and sent off the first week of january. they sent him the money for his car as it was a write off. other than that we never heard from them unless my husband phoned them and when he did every person he spoke to was rude and very quick to blame him. he again phoned them up on friday 3rd of feb to find out what was happening and they told him they were going to admit liabilty.

I told him to ask them if they had recieved his report forms to which they answered no. whenever i have had any dealings with anyone where you have to send forms off i always recieve a letter the week after recieving forms saying if they haven't recieved them. this was four weeks ago that he sent them. they asked him to explain what happened yet again and yet again they were rude and said 'its your fault' they are saying that he crossed the other drivers path even though the other driver wasnt there when my husband made his manuvere, they say he must have been because he hit you, my husband told them he was speeding they say thats not relevant as they cant judge speed, my husbands argument then was that if you are driving at the speed limit (20mph in that particular location) and hit a car you would not completly f**k up the axle (the strongest part of a car) thats not relevant again. and he was told that it doesnt matter how far away a car is (even if its far away enough that you cant see it) if you turn right you are crossing its path.

One of the girls even said to him that they want to admit liability because it would cost too much to go to court which made us question why we pay extra for legal representation!? i asked my husband to ask them if they were his insurance company or the other guys because they just seem to want to blame my husband and have been extremely rude about it. he is sending the report forms off again and is hoping they get them and read them before they accept liability. whatever happens when this is over i will be sending them a complaint about it all and we will be swapping insurance.
This is a warning to everyone considering tesco car insurance, they are cheap and seem really good but as soon as you have a crash they dont want to know and treat you like dirt. you have been warned!!!!!

Summary: tesco's are not capable of selling insurance and should be stopped!!!!!!!!!

tesco insurance should be stopped! they are good with shopping but thats it. eveything is fine until you make a claim, nice and cheap, but when it goes from £300. to £600. because someone hits you and won't admit fault even though they admitted fault at the time of the accident, gave me a dude phone number and told me to get a quote and he would pay by cash. then denie it all when the insurance get involved! this is the second claim with tesco that we have cancelled because they sit on their backsides and do nothing! " you have lost your no claims as you have had an accident even though its not your fault" why bother! go to churchill they are spot on, I know they charge more but you get what you pay for. pay little at tesco and get little in return!!
use the shop, but stay away from the insurance!!!

I'm sorry but I can't quite understand what the problem is. You say that Tesco have sent him the money for the car as it was a write-off, but I'm not certain what the on-going point is.

Hi there, welcome to the site. I agree with comment below - with no paragraphs it's very difficult to keep track of the read. Try having a look at other reviews to see how it could be improved. As for the content. At the end of the day the company is a business - not that I'm saying that makes it right for your treatment - but they will look at how things can be done the cheapest way to save them money and that's why prices are so low. I think a lot of people find this out after accidents which is something you don't think about when you see the best price. Belinda
