Advantages: price

Disadvantages: bad customer service, lots of policy exclusions and stuff you only find out about at claim stage.

I was unlucky enough to have my first accident last week.

I thought everything would be Ok as I was with Tesco Insurance, a large reputable company.

Unfortuantely Ive had nothing but problems and my car is still sitting in a recovery yard waiting to be picked up and repaired!

I am having to ring a couple of times every day and have done so since the accident to find out whats going on, and heling them to sort out the problems that they seem to be having.

My main reason for writing this review is to warn everyone, before they take out an insurance policy with Tesco, read the small print. I paid the extra to guarantee me with a courtesy car, what they dont tell you is that you only get the car for 14 days, if you car takes longer than that to repair then tough! And that they only authorise you for a car less than a 1 litre and if you want anything nicer then it comes out of your own pocket!!

Also, they have turnaround times, that are almost two weeks, so you might have to give back your courtesy car before your car has even been touched by the repairing garage!

Hopefully you have found this review useful, I was really pleased with the price of my quote last year as Tesco beat everyone else by a mile! But, I certainly wont ever be having another plan with them aftger experciencing their claims handing as I now feel its of more benefit to me (and less stressful) to pay more in premiums to get a much better level of service.

i had my first accident too a few months ago and although i got my money back for the car they took three months to sort it out, the car was moved to three different garages and finally ended up in England, (Im in Scotland). Nobody knew what was going on it was appalling. The trouble with all insurance companies is that there are more than happy to take your money but really make it impossible to get you what you are owed back.
