Advantages: cheap

Disadvantages: not everything on offer

Other day I was looking for quotes for car insurance. Tesco is one of the companies I used to get the quote.

I went on-line at their site.

After I filled in the details I was given a quote which looked very good on paper. It was £150 cheaper than the nearest rival. When I looked at excess and small print I was gobsmacked. It looked as Tesco is offering very basic insurance and to pay for extra like medical and legal liabilities and to bring down excess the quote suddenly increases by over 50%.

This may be just my quote. Not everyone has same cars or driving years or no claims bonus. I have been driving for a long time. The no claim bonus was for over 6 years and yet Tesco quoted me a final figure which was far more than other insurance sellers. At the start Tesco had the cheapest cover with excess starting at £500 and all the other things that are offered by others not in the price.

I urge anyone using Tesco Insurance to read the small print and check what you are getting for your money.

Summary: read the policy before taking out insurance

My husband also fell for this lot by not reading the small print. He has learnt his lesson now! x

Good advice about reading the small print - you should always do this. However, this isn't really a review about their insurance as such, just the level of cover they offer in the initial quote.
