Advantages: Cheap at first

Disadvantages: Bad Customer Service, Still taking money off me months after i cancelled the policy

Well, where can I start, i took out a policy for my 1992 Peugeot 405 and got it for a good price, but i've now no longer got the car as it broke down and would have cost too much to fix so I have bought a new car on finance with 1st year free insurance. i've tried and tried to cancel my tesco policy and 2 months later I am still having payments withdrawn from my account. I have not made a claim against my policy which should therefore allow me to cancel at any time so what gives tesco the right to 'steal' money from my bank account for a service that I cannot use as the car is now sat SORN in a garage (probably will scrap it one day). I have written in several times to their customer service departments and spoken to several representatives and been reassured that the policy has been cancelled, but its still to no avail. I would be interested to know if anyone else out there has had similar problems, and where I should go next? presumably some sort of legal action.

Summary: Avoid like the plague

I would have just cancelled the direct debit and not bothered chasing tesco

Presuming that the money is being taken by direct debit you can get the bank to cancel the payments and usually you can instruct them to claim back the payments from after the policy was cancelled.
