Advantages: One of the cheaper companies, good service, efficient

Disadvantages: I would have stayed with them but the quote went up the next year and others were cheaper

I had Tesco car insurance in 2007 and was involved in an accident that involved 3 cars including mine. I took out the policy because it was the cheapest, but I was a little concerned at the time of the accident as I had never claimed before and was worried that having a cheap supermarket policy might impact on service.

I needn't have worried as within an hour of the accident I had had my car collected from the scene, been dropped off at the car rental place and immediately provided with a replacement car (a Matiz that felt like tinfoil and I hated, but it was a car that went and something to get around in for two weeks so really, who cares what it is!)

Two weeks later, my repaired Ford Ka was delivered back to my house on the back of a lorry. The repair company had even valeted it for me! I think they also had a sense of humour as I had an Evanescene CD in the CD player when I had the accident, and there was a Fall Out Boy CD of my husbands in there when they returned it - I never really listened to it at that point.

I turned the engine on and the first song to play was Thriller - of which the chorus is 'So long live the car crash hearts, Cry on the couch all the poets come to life, Fix me in 45'. It made me laugh - I think they must have been hoping I had a sense of humour!

In summary, what was a horrible experience was made so much better by Tesco being so efficient and pre-empting every question I had before I had a chance to ask it. I have since switched providers but the only reason was cost. My insurance did unfortunately go up after the accident with Tesco, and other companies were offering me a better deal, so rather than pay the extra, I did what anyone would do and moved on - a shame really as they were really good.

Summary: If the quote goes down in the future, I may well go back
