Advantages: friendly service, cheap premiums, free security window etching

Disadvantages: no discount for security devices

Having just bought a new car I was really keen to shop around and get some cheap motor insurance. I thought this would not take me too long as I did the same thing last year, but no, everyone I seemed to phone have me absolutely ridiculous quotes. I am under 25 (only just!) and having passed my test some 7 years ago with 6 years no claims I was amazed at the prices people were quoting me - £500+ for a L reg Fiesta 1.3 - no modifications.

After many evenings of phoning insurance companies and resigning myself to paying a sky high premium, I picked up a leaflet for Tesco Motor inurance in one of their pertrol stations. When I got home and phoned the number I was very pleasantly surprised.

The man I spoke to was both friendly and helpful (believe me, many others had a sense of humour failure) and gave me a quote very quickly over the phone. It was at least £70 cheaper than the cheapest quote I already had with only a very small charge for payihg monthly (no money in the bank after buying the new car!) The details were sent out straight away for me to approve and sign and provide details for my direct debit transactions. Also, I received a free voucher for my windows to be etched with the chassis number in any local Autoglass or Autowindscreen - definitely a bonus! In addition to this I received a helpful booklet on what to do in an accident and their 24 hour accident helpline - they will come and get you if you have an accident - all of which can be kept in the glovebox of my lovely new car.

The only disadvantage is that no discount was given for any security devices, ie alarms and immobilisers which was a little disappointing.

However, a good, friendly, reasonably priced and efficient service - glad I bothered to call them in the end!
