Arai RX-7RR4:
... of the most expensive helmets you can buy (about £450 last time I looked) short of customs and specials. It has lots of vents for those scorching hot summer days we have to endure here in sunny Scotland. Ventilation is just not a problem with this thing. It's very, very light and strong (Super Complex Laminate Construction shell - whatever that is). The visor has integrated mounting tabs for tear-offs, but if... StylMartin 299 "Carbone Future" ... Carbone Future £129.00 - Racing and Sports touring boots. Any of you who have followed Motorcycle racing from the 70's will remember the Stylmartin brand from racers like Eddie Lawson, Nieto & Ferrari. In more recent years John Kocinski remained loyal to the out-of-date looking boots even as all around him seemed to be wearing Alpinestars. Well the Italian firm are back and look like they intend to stay ! So what made me switch from my Alpinestars GP boots with their carbon fibre everywhere and race-track pedigree and choose the untested Stylmartin Carbone Future ? Well, i cant answer that, other than the Alpinestars had developed a fault with the velco fa... Read the full review: Stylmartin - An old name gets a face lift by esspee |

OGK FF3 ... have recently purchased an OGK FF3 helmet and this certainly is a major player in the top end of the helmet market. Previously i had used an Arai NR3 (Ryo replica) and never thought that an Arai could be beaten. I spent several months shopping around and looking at the best lids available before making my choice. I'm sure everyone else has the same troubles but so many lids just do not seem to fit, or they fit but apply too much pressure to parts of head, or they feel too claustrophobic or.... and so on, until finally i came across the OGK. I'd heard of them before from reviews in the press and from seeing many British Motorcycle racers using them throughout the... Read the full review: OGK FF3 - new kid on your block by esspee |

Shoei FX-4 Series ... tend to average about 40-50,000 miles a year on various bikes and replace my crash helmet every two to three years. For the first few years of riding I wore whatever looked good and was fairly cheap. I had a couple of Italian helmets and the odd lid from who knows where. Then I tried on a Shoei, an RF200. It fitted like no other crash helmet I'd ever worn. It was made for me, so despite it costing twice as much as any helmet I'd ever bought before I had to have it. It was stylish in an understated way and the build quality was without equal, and this was the bottom of the range Shoei...Quiet, comfortable and well made. The perfect helmet. Two years...
