This is a well-made, surprisingly roomy plastic top box. Because it curved rather than box-shaped you would expect its carrying capacity to be limited, but in my experience that is not the case. At the moment mine contains a full face helmet and spare wet-weather gloves, security chain, lock, chain lube, spare brake/clutch handle and there is still room to spare for other bits and pieces.

The box snap fits onto a robust base plate that is bolted onto my rack and is easily removed, after turning the key, by pressing a red button. There is a recess above the lock which, once the box is removed from the base plate, forms a convenient carrying handle – big enough even for gloved hands.

The only problem I had it with was in the beginning when I failed to get the “up and over” catch to engage properly when I locked it. This didn’t have any serious consequences (apart from the obvious security one of the box not being locked!) – the box remained closed during use. As the catch is concealed in that recess, I’ve learned to give the lid a tug after closing the latch to make sure it has engaged properly.

I have used the box in torrential rain and have never had a single drop of water enter it.
