Leather or breathable? Leather (Weise Gloves)

Advantages: good value for money, almost water-PROOF

Disadvantages: protection, not 100% waterproof

I've tried several makes and models of the so called breathable waterproof motorcycle gloves and I had to take them all back to the shops and get my money back. I find them totally useless in heavy continuous rain. Their absorbency is bigger than their capacity to get rid of the accumulated water. And when you try to dry them at home, you will need days. Not very useful if you are a motorcycle courier. That's why I decided to give a go to the WEISE simple winter leather gloves. The truth is nothing is completely 100% waterproof, except... surgical gloves, but these WEISE are close enough. They will withstand aproximately 7-9 hours of heavy rain. Then you should change them with the second spare pair. When stopping for 5-10 minutes it is worthwile putting the wet gloves on the engine. Even if they don't get completely dry, at least they will be warm. There is also the choice of using leather wax, any emolient hand cream or even Johnson&Johnson baby oil. As often, the better.
These gloves are not having any of the kevlar protection or anything as such, so don't count on them in the case of a serious accident, but they will be decently protective in a minor incident. You can adjust the wrist size with the velcro straps.
You can get them at the Motorcycle shop on Harrow Road, London, for 27-30 pounds.
